He was a member of the Decatur Central Lions Club, Decatur Civic Council, and was financial trustee of Western Yearly Meeting of Friends. He also was a former board member of Indiana Legal Foundation. Mr.

Haflich was named a Sagamore of the Wabash and received the 2000 Allen C. Steere Award from the Governmental Affairs Society of Indiana, of which he was past president. Brooks III, owned Ralph's Great Divide for 19 years. The restaurant was one of two Indianapolis restaurants honored by Bon Appetit magazine as a "great neighborhood restaurant."
