NOVfiMltffll 4, THE ftflfNCLANDBR (Wig,) DAILY NEWS PAGE 7 Christmas Cash-Sell Surplus Items-Low Cost Want i a -i- i Wade, Offensive Cog for Rams, Is NFLs Top Passer PHILADELPHIA (AP) Billy Wade, a vital cog in the Los Angeles Rams offensive, has jumped into the lead as the National Football League's top passer, official statistics showed today. The former Vandcrbilt star completed 16 passes for 200 yards against the Chicago Beat's Sunday to move from third to first in the standings with an 8.64 average gain on 79 completions out-of 126 attempts for 1,089 yards and nine touchdowns. In the passing department, standings arc based on the average gain per pass attempted. Behind Wade are Ralph GugHel- mi, Washington, with an 8.58 average on Charley Conor- ly, New York, 8.15 on and Johnny Unilas, Baltimore, 8.00 on Brown Takes Giant Step. Cleveland's Jimmy Brown took a giant step Sunday toward retaining his ground gaining crown he carried for 178 yards and five touchdowns in defeating Baltimore.

He now has 737 yards in 154 carries for a 4.8 average. Second in rushing is J.D. Smith, San Francisco, with 604 yards on 118 carries and a 5.1 average. Art Powell, of Philadelphia, leads in two departments. The speedy end is first in punt and kickpff returns with 11.9 and 34.4 averages respectively.

Ray Berry, Baltimore Colt end, leads among the pass receivers. In the past two games, Berry has caught 21 passes to bring his total for the year to 40. He has gained 584 yards and scored six touchdowns. Conrad Leads Scoring. Bobby Joe Conrad of the Chicago Cardinals, leads in scoring with 50 points.

Tom Davis, San Francisco, is second with 49. Green Bay Packer Paul Hornung ranks seventh among the ground gainers with 355 yards on 93 carries, the longest 22 yards, for a 3.8 yard average. Packer quarterback Lamar McHan is eighth among passers with an average gain of 7.3 yards per completion. He's tossed 159 times, completing 45 passes for 723 yards and a completion percentage of 45.5. Eight of McHan's aerials have gone for touchdowns.

Warriors Favored To Beat Bison MILWAUKEE (AP) Coach Lisle Blackbourn warned his Mar- quelte players today not to consider their game here Saturday against North Dakota State as a "breather" despite the fact that the Warriors 'are favored to win and end their II-game losing streak. The Bison have a well balanced running and passing attack, the coach said, and have speed which could give the slower Warriors an afternoon of trouble. Marqucttc's advantage will be in over-all but they have no running backs to match halfback Gary Ahlgren and fullback Curt Quenette, Coach George Kelly, who scouted the Bisons last week, said. They also have a good passer in quarterback Ross Forlier who has completed 35 of 72 pass-es, including five four touchdowns. Fullback John Lane wi'il be I6st to Marquctte for the game because of a shoulder injury, Blackbourn said.

Sophomore Pat Ger agnty will be moved up to fill the hole. WOBT 1240K.C. B- ttovind, northeast area game supervisor at Woodruff.

In addition, as in past years, deer can be registered on Nov. 30, the first day after the season. For the most part, the registration stations will be located about the same as last year. A few changes have been made because of changes in season boundaries or to improve efficiency and service to the sportsman. A detailed 'list will be issued prior to the Reason.

Sportsmen are urged to have the left protion of their deer registration cards completed when they present their deer at any station. One of these cards was issued with each big game license. This will greatly reduce the time necessary for registering their deer and will enable to continue their travels wit'h little delay. Hunters are asked to use care in completing this card. The date, county and deer management unit of kill are important data which are necessary for the future management of this animal.

A management unit map is on each 195960 Wisconsin big game hunting regulation pamphlet for the hunters' convenience. With the continued cooperation of the sportsmen, Hovind says, registration will proceed smootihly. (Editor's Note: A detailed list of registration stations, plus the hours of registration at each station, will be published within the next week. Hackbart's Record Trails Ameche's MADISON (AP) Quarterback Dale Hackbarl has accounted for 36 of the 116 points scored by Wisconsin's football team this season, a figure that keeps him in the lead for individual scoring honors. Hackbart's total was earned on fiye touchdowns and three two- point conversions.

The season figure boosts his career total to 128 and places him second only to Alan (The Horse) Ameche as all- time Badger scoring leader. Ameche ran up a total of 150 points for the years 1951-54. Fullback Tom Wiesner of Neenah has moved into the runnerup spot in scoring, the result of a td in Wisconsin's 19-10 victory over Michigan last Saturday. He has 24 points on'six touchdowns. Tackle Karl Holzwarth of Madison, whose educated toe has accounted for 22 points, ranks third.

Holzwarth is credited with seven straight kicking conversions and five field goals. He's only missed once all season. In fourth spot is Billy Hobbs of Eau Claire with 12 points. Wiesner remains the Badgers leading ground gainer with 260 yards gained in 74 carries. Hobbs is next with 235, and Hackbart third withh 165.

In the passing department, Hackbart 'leads with 326 gained in 23 completions. His percentage is .451. Sophomore Jim Bakkcn leads Hackbart on the percentage side of the statistics. He's thrown 23 passes, completed 12 for 172 yards and a nrarkinanship figure of .522. Hockey Scores Market Reports Final New York Stocks.

NEW YORK Wide gains and losses by scattered issues featured an irregular stock market today. Trading was active early this afternoon. The more volatile stocks made moves of as much as half a dozen points while pivotal issues showed a pattern of losses and gains seldom exceeding a point. The market was mixed from the start after the election day holiday. The ticker tape was late for a 12-ininute spell as some big blocks were traded.

American Motors and the Stude. baker-Packard issues were delayed about half an hour in opening due to a pile up of buy orders. Both gained in out-of-town exchanges Tuesday. Stock split proposals for Goodyear and JSagle Picher brought these issues wide gains. Electronics were irregularly lower in profit taking.

Chicago 3 Wednesday Schedule New York at Toronto Thursday Schedule New York at Montreal Boston at Detroit Duke Guard Is AP's Selection for Lineman of Week DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Duke football coach Bill Murray accepts national acclaim for his star pupil, guard Mike McGee, with the air of a man who knew it all the time.

Murray feels McGec, named Lineman of the Week Tuesday by The Associated Press, has been the country's best all season. "I don't think any lineman in the history of the AP's selection has deserved it Murray says. "Here is a boy who is unquestionably one of America's great players." McGee won the honor for his rugged play in leading Duke to a 10-7 "manhandling" of Georgia Tech, ranked ninth in the nation before the upset last Saturday. Tech coach Bobby Dodd said "McGee played a great game. He broke through and threw our boys for losses several times.

They certainly did manhandle us." Murray wrote in the Duke preseason brochure, "If he's not an All-America, then there are none. He's the best lineman I've ever coached." McGee called the Lineman of the Week accolade "the greatest honor I know." He said, "with as many great linemen as there are in the country, it's hard to see how they can pick just one." The 21-year-old education senior from Elizabeth City, N.C., then hastened to add, "I don't see how anyone can pick just one Duke lineman out of our game Saturday. They ought to pick the whole Duke line. It was a great team effort." McGee, 220 pounds of well conditioned athlete, sparked the Blue Devi'i forward wall on offense and defense. He is the only regular who lines up with both Duke's offensive and defensive units.
