By pointing to a picture or the corresponding word In the book, a patient could make everyday needs or desires understood. All the artwork and lettering for the book was done by Mrs. Green, whose nonprofit project was featured in The Indianapolis Star during the 1970s. Her book was distributed throughout the United States and at least eight other countries.

Mrs. Green was a life member of the Indiana University Alumni Association and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church In Brownsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation. She was the widow of Lowell Green.

Survivors: daughter Susan E.G. The author of a book that helped hospital patients communicate died Tuesday. Carol Eugenia Elizabeth Niemi Green, 75, Brownsburg, designed and published Help Me to Help Myself, a 40-page picture book, in 1972. Private services will be Thursday at Washington Park Cemetery-North. Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, Is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Green was a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and received bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana University She was a nurse with St. Vincent Hospital from 1965-1977, retiring in 1977 from the obstetrical anesthesia department. While at St. Vincent, Mrs.

Green came up with the Idea for her book, which became known as a valuable WILLIAM F. SHOCKLEY, 83. Indianapolis, died May 15. He was a manager of hotels and apartment buildings, retiring in 1984. Services were private, and there was no calling.

Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Survivors: son Donald R. Shockley; stepson Steven P. Hopper; brother James B. Shockley: four grandchildren.
