"I feel the same way about Paulie," replied Rice. Although Rice never had won the award, he has consistently finished among the leaders. And he was the only strong contender to Miller for "Coach of The Decade" honors in a Courier-Journal coaches' poll last year.

The public reprimand of Broyles for his criticism of the officiating in the Arkansas-Mississippi game, which Ole Miss won 10-7 with a controversial field goal in the last six seconds, was generally considered only a "slap on the wrist." Broyles had accused the referee, Tommy Bell of Lexington, Ky of calling the field goal good when actually, Broyles maintained, it was "wide of the goal by several feet." Dedecker Signs With Cards St. Louis, Dec. 10 (API Darrell Dedecker, 8-2, 235-pound linebacker and defensive tackle at the University ot Illinois. Saturday became the second draft choice to aign a 19fSl contract with the National Football League's St. Louis Cardinals.

Dedecker. a 28-year-old former Marine aergeant, was the Cardinals' lftth draft choice last year. He was recently named to the Big 10's academic all-star team. St Male, Eastern Win St. Xavier capped a rewarding Indiana tour last night by upsetting Indianapolis Cathedral 52-48.

College High got only three points in the third quarter and 14 in the second half, allowing the Eagles to make a shambles of a fairly close game. Eastern led only 31-23 at the intermission. Herbie Smith had 11 to pace College High, which dropped its fourth game in seven tries. Eastern's win made them 2-0. Trinity Shades Manual Ekes By 48-46; AthertoiiDumps 3Iorgan Twp.

Given an 18-point performance by junior guard Ray Pohlman and a valuable last-quarter scoring splurge by Buddy Meuller, Trinity dropped Manual 48-46 at Bellarmine Gym last night. Meuller picked up three fouls early in the game and sat out most of the second and third periods, but he returned in the last quarter and dropped through eight points to lead the Shamrocks from behind. Fred Steele pumped through 24 points for the Crimsons and kept them in front most of the way. They led 12-11 after the first quarter, 25-24 at the half and 33-30 after three periods. However, Meuller and forward Gerry Marchand led a quick flurry at the beginning of the last period which put the Shamrocks on top.

And they hung on to win. Manual, which upset Ather-ton Friday night, is now 1-1 on the season. Trinity bowed to" Campbellsville Durham in its last start and is now 2-1 for the year. Southwestern Ohio (twice) and Eastern Florida. Fifty-two of his boya have gone on to college and three of them have made All-American. Paul Hornuna at Notre Dame and Howard Schnellen-bcrger and J. T. Frankenberger at Kentocky, Has consistently developed fine quarterbacks. Six of them have been All-City in addition to Hornung: Jack RlchariUon, Joe O'Brien, Norm Mackin.

Dave Beam, Tom Meagher and Ricky Norton. Norton, who will he back next season, is one of many All-Staters Wilier has coached. In addition to being elected "Coach of The Decade," Miller also was honored when his 1952 team was chosen "Team of The Decade" and Harming was selected "Player of The Decade." Washington Hires Sheehan Washington, Dec. 10 (UP) Jack Sheehan. who has been with the Chicago White Sox organization, was hired by the new Washington Senator! as chief scout.
