THE INDIANAPOLIS STAR D6 THURSDAY, MARCH 30, 2000 Obituaries Lionel Billman owned monument firm and had held offices in Cass Comity ft Chic leader Mary Lapiiiska Fink, 84, served numerous Jewish organizations LOGANSPORT, Ind. Services for Lionel Billman, 76, Logansport, former Cass County surveyor and Republican councilman, will be at 1:30 p.m. March 30 in First United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. He died March 26. Mr.

Billman owned and operated Billman Monument Logansport, which had been in the Billman family for three generations. He and his father, the late Carl Billman, assisted in crafting a granite reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper that received national acclaim. He also created a depiction of a Revolutionary War Minuteman that is in the Indiana National Guard Battalion Headquarters. A longtime member of the Republican Party, Mr. Billman served three terms as Cass County surveyor and more than 20 years on the Cass County Council.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a veteran of the Indiana Air National Guard. A veteran of the Indiana Army National Guard as well, he was a deputy brigade commander and retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel. Mr. Billman was a private pilot and a member of the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association, the International Comanche Society and the Experi- mental Aircraft Association. He had served on the Administrative Council, the board of trustees, the Finance Committee and the Parish Staff Committee of First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Billman was a member of the Cass County Family Y. a life member of the Logansport Elks and the Cass County Historical Society and a past president of the Logansport-Cass County Public Library Board. He also served on the Logansport Board of Aviation, the Cass County Drainage Board and the Four County Counseling Center Board. A graduate of Indiana University, he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity.

Memorial contributions may be made to Campus Crusade for Christ, the Logansport-Cass County Public Library Fund or the Cass County Community Foundation. He was the widower of Muriel Math-ias Billman. She also had served as president of the Women's Conference and chairwoman of the JWF Women's Division Campaign, and was a member of the Women's Conference Steering Committee.

Mrs. Fink was a past president and board member of Meals on Wheels, the Indiana Jewish Historical Society, the Indianapolis section of the National Council of Jewish Women and the Welfare Service League of Marion County. She served as vice president of the Indiana Religious Historical Association and the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation Sister Board. She also served on the Israel Bond Committee and the board of Hadassah. She was a member of the Service Council of the five-county Hoosier Capital Girl Scout Council and the City INEZ IRENE ROBERTS ALLEN, 95, Thomtown.
