' Color Base Gives Skin Protection Do you really know how important ft tinted make-up base is for your appearance? Properly used, it can influence your clothes, hair and complexion. One of the best features about a foundation is its ability to help make a problem skin smooth and unblemished. No need to suffer with sailowness, fret over freckles or brood because of broken veins. A make-up base with good coverage will neatly conceal all three. Birthmarks are no longer a blight, either. One famous cosmetic house has developed a foundation that will completely cover such discolorations. How many times have you put on your best black dress only to find it gives your skin a sallow, lifeless look, regardless of your make-up? A rosier base is what you need. Then there's the question of the clothes in your wardrobe that add too much color to your skin. Tone down the unnatural flush with a beige-toned base. And when you're tired out after a strenuous day, a lively shade of make-up base will give your skin alift. Foundations are available In cream, liquid and cake form. You'll even find some in a combination powder-base. This can be puffed right on your skin. Pick a make-up base that is neither too light nor too dark. Either one will give your -skin an unflattering tone. Look for a neutral shade, except when you are trying for special effects. You may also consider your foundation an invisible veil of protection. It guards your skin from the dryness of winter weather and indoor heating. From all indications, a good make-up base is one of your firmest foundations for beauty. No Fear of Russian Army Nothing to fear from the Russians, Field Marshal Lord Ironside told a recent British Legion conference in London. "There are few people living, I expect, who have as much experience of the Russians as I have," he said. "I have no fear of what a Russian army could do to us if we had the defenses' that we are setting up now. A ramshackle nation such as they are cannot possibly put up a show against what we are now preparing." Turks Study India Five Turkish journalists recently started a seven-week All-India tour, to stifdy that country's educational industrial and agricultural projects, as guests of the government. The visitors include Ahmet Kmin Yalmen, editor of an Istanbul daily; Ahmed Sukru Esmer.
