'j (bftml idea. By Kevin O'Neal STAFF WRITER A Marlon County reserve sheriffs deputy could face criminal prosecution over the disappearance of a laptop computer and a printer. Reserve Cpl.

Danny Skldmore admitted taking the equipment from a Far-Southslde business last week, according to county sheriffs Detective Kelly Weldner. "He Just felt the temptation," the detective said. Weldner said he will present evidence from his investigation to the prosecutor's office today. Prosecutors will review the information and decide whether formal charges should be filed. Skldmore most likely will be charged with theft, Weldner said.

The events that led to the investigation took place the morning of March 22. investigators said Skidmore was dispatched on a re-'port of an open door at Papa John's Pizza, 1630 E. Southport Road. A delivery driver had reported the open door. Weldner did not say whether the driver remained in the area long enough to see Skidmore arrive.

Skldmore found the open door but no evidence that anything was taken, investigators said. However, before he closed the door, Skldmore took the computer equipment, according to Weldner. The detective did not explain what evidence led him to suspect Skldmore. Such detail should be contained in the detective's sworn report to prosecutors today. Because formal charges had not been filed by the prosecutor's office Tuesday, Skldmore was not arrest- ed, Weidner said.

However, the re- serve officer was relieved of duty by the Sheriffs Department. He also was ordered to surrender his law enforcement equipment, in cluding his firearm. A copy of the detective's report will be forwarded to the depart- -ment's Internal affairs office, Weldner said. A final decision on Skidmore's status with the Sheriffs '''Department probably will be made after that report is reviewed deputies in the Marlon. County Sheriffs Department receive essentially the same training full-time merit deputies and possess the same powers.

But they generally work as unpaid and part- time volunteers who have other 'jobs, as well. MY ANSWER Dear Billy Graham: We recently moved and have started attending a church that uses the Apostles' Creed In Jrm ship service. We Rillv didn't use this in Dllly our previous Graham church. Where Is It found in the Bi- 'tjle? S.W. Dear Reader: The Apostles' Creed is not actually found In the Bible; it is, instead, a summary oi i what the Bible teaches about God and our relationship to him in Christ, based on the teaching of the apostles.

This biiel statement oi iaiin 1 dates to the earliest centuries of the Christian church, and probably was used originally to teach new converts the essentials of their faith. Many denominations and churches still use it during their worship services to remind people what God has done for us (and will do for us) in Christ. Even churches that disagree among themselves on minor points of doctrine can agree on these core truths of the Gospel. Regardless of whether your church uses this creed, never forget that the heart of bur faith is Christ, who came to save us from our sins I by his death on the cross. When we come, to him by taltn.

ne iorgives and cleanses us of our sins and comes to live within us by his Holy Snirit. Never forget also that the secret of a living, vital faith is "Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Colossians Have you committed your life to him? By faith come to him, and then "continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught" (Colossians Write to Billy Graham, The Indianapolis Star, in care of Tribune Media Services, 435 N.
