WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 1352 ALTON 'EVENING TELEGRAPH PAGE Carrollton Cage Team Honored CARROLLTON-Harnoy Lewis, sporls announcer from the Jacksonville rndl. station, was guest speaker Tuesday vening at the annual banquet given by the Mother's Auxiliary honoring the Carrollton High School basketball squad and their fathers. The cheer- leaders and their fathers were also present. Lewis Is a former graduate of the CarrolHon High School and j was one of the sporls announcers I at the state basketball tournament last week at the University of Illinois. Short talks were made by the retiring captain of the team, Ray i Shaw, and the of ptain elect, Roy j Speckhard. Coach Richard Hamann • also gave a talk commending the 'boys for their activities duritg the I season and presented letters to Ray Shaw, Lyndoll Smith, Robert Foiles, Jack Tapp, Robert Howland, Kiohari Pniltt, John Darr, Roy Speckhard and Jack Roberts. Guest* From Ituwnll CARROLLTON -Mrs. Ruth Lynn of Honolulu, Hawaii, and her three small daughters are guests of her orother, County Superintendent of Schools, (I. W. Lowe and Mrs. IJOWG this week, Mrs. Lynn has returned to the states following the death of her husband, Capt. Robert K, Lynn, who was recently killed In a plane crash in Hawaii. Illinois Valley Track Meet Set May 2 at Roodhome CARROLLTON. - \V. J. Ritchie of While Hall, president ol the Illinois Valley Conference, presided at a dinner meeting of the coaches and principals of the schools in the conference Monday evening at Farrows. Plans were made for the annual conference track meet to be held in Roodhouse Friday, May 2. At the meeting Monday evening, White Hall High School was awarded the Illinois Valley basketball trophy for winning the -.'onferenee title in 15)51-52. While Hall won nine games and lost only one.
