Page 2 Deaths Peak Services Set Funeral services for Leonard (Bill) Peak, Rt. 1, Americus, who was killed Friday morning in an accident on the E. W. Grimmett farm, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel.

They will be conducted by the Rev. Theodore Inman, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Americus Cemetery. Members of the family have announced the establishment of a memorial fund and donations may be sent to the Americus State Bank. Mr.

Peak had been a lifetime resident of the Ruggles and Prairie Hill communities. He was born April 22nd, 1913, on a farm northwest of Emporia, and he was married to Doris Marie Holmes on Oct. 7th, 1939, in Emporia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick F. and Jennie Irene Sanders Peak, and by one brother, Russell Wayne, and one sister, Thelma.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, Delbert of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Althea Fay Wheeler, Rt. 4, Mrs. George (Charlotte Ann) Thornton, Rt. 5, and Mrs.

Robert E. (Donna Kay) Coe, Nashville, two brothers, Ralph and Homer, both of Rt. one sister, Mrs. Harold (Edna) Bales, 114 South Walnut and two grandchildren, Brian Lee Wheeler and Holli Ann Thornton. Faye Huffman Dies News has been received of the death of Faye Huffman, a librarian at Emporia State College ior many years before she re- itired.

Miss Huff man died Friday in the Mid-America iRest Home in El Dorado, where Ishe had been a resident since 'June, 1974. By mail outside of Kansas, $23.00 per year; six months, one month, Garage Destroyed By Fire on Friday A two-car garage at the Frank Finley residence, two miles north of Emporia on K-99 Highway, was destroyed Friday afternoon when a fire spread to the building.

Emporia firemen arrived to find that the structure had collapsed and they concentrated on protecting the' Finley house. A 1956 Chevrolet and tools in the garage were also destroyed by the fire. Firemen were called to extinguish two grass fires Friday evening. They were called to a vacant lot at 912 East St. and to an area north of the Interstate 35 by-pass on Watson Street where a trash fire had spread to grass.

ft ft ft Former Emporians Works on Display At Emporia Bank The current art exhibit in the First National Bank and Trust Company in El Dorado is a collection of prints, paintings and drawings by Mrs. Jerry (Glenda Thompson) Wathen, a former student at Emporia State College and the daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. George Wathen of Admire, long-time residents of Emporia. The artist, her husband, and their three-year old son, Derek Zane, live in Towanda and she is a member of the El Dorado Art Association.

She has been painting and drawing for years and has received a number of awards for competitions she has entered since she started exhibiting in February. The display in El Dorado, the subject of a recent feature article in the El Dorado Times, will be open until July 16th. Bailey Realty Company. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Monday in the school auditorium and burial will be in the Wonsevu Cemetery. The Thompson Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Thompson was born April 26th, 1878, in Erie County, the son of James and Susan Kinsinger Thompson. He was preceded in death by his wife and he is survived by three daughters, Mildred Gibb, Elmdale, and Irene Link and Betty Thompson, Cedar Point; two sisters, Agnes McCall, WatsonviUe, and Katie Elder, Leoti; 14 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren.

ft ft ft READING Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams spent the Fourth of July in Silver Dollar City. THE GAZETTE, EMPORIA, KANSAS Daily Report Saturday, July 12, 197? Thefts Vandalism Vandals damaged 32 cars Thursday night or Friday morning at The Way College of Emporia, according to police. Damage to the cars ranged from $10 to 11,000 and totaled Investigation of the incident is continuing, and information on individual cases was not immediately available.

Harvey L. Bunyard, 1102 Sylvan St. reported the theft of his motorcycle. The machine, valued at $650, was taken Thursday night or Friday morning from his residence. Joseph R.

Leiser, Madison, reported Friday the theft of his pickup truck on June 30th. Mr. Leiser told police that the truck was taken from the Iowa Beef Processors parking lot June 30th and returned the same day. He said that the truck was damaged. Damage was set at $547.

Michael G. and Rita J. Ragsdale, 505 Exchange reported the theft of their bicycles. The bicycles were taken from their residence Wednesday night or Thursday. Loss was set at Patty A.

Kusmaul, 1901 Briarcliff Lane, reported the theft of her bicycle. The bicycle was taken from her residence early Thursday. Loss was set at $100. The theft of a recapped semi- truck tire was reported by George M. Logan, Fort Scott, who told police that the tire was taken from the truck while it was parked at 3184 West Highway 50, Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

The tire, valued at $85, is owned by Peerless Products Fort Scott. Steven D. Smith, Rt. 1, reported the theft of a leather carpenter's apron and the tools it contained. He said that the apron and tools were taken from the west alley of the 800 block of Merchant Street Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

Loss was set at $65. John R. Fields, Rt. 5, reported the theft of a sleeping bag. He said that the bag was taken from a car parked in the parking lot at Interstate Bakeries Thursday set at $30.

TUT Complaints Filed Emporia police have charged Lawrence D. Ziegler, 1231 Trail Ridge Road, with discharging a firearm within the city. Mr. Ziegler is accused of shooting a 12-gauge shotgun into the air in front of his residence early today. Traffic Tickets Emporia police have issued tickets to John B.

Cannon, 906 Congress driving with a suspended license; Douglas K. Polson, 930 Graphic Arts Road, 30 in a 20 zone; Michael W. Waugh, 1102 Cottonwood failure to stop at a stop light; Ronnie A. Blanks, 1304 Exchange failure to yield the right-of-way from a stop sign and driving in violation of a drivers license restriction. ft Traffic Accidents A passenger was injured in a collision Friday night in the 300 block of West Sixth Avenue. Dorothy M. Harder, Bushong, a passenger in a car driven by David L. Whittington, Americus, complained of pain in her neck.

Police charged Carol J. Hanson, Rt. 5, with careless driving in connection with the accident. She was eastbound on West Sixth Avenue when her vehicle struck the rear of the Whittington car, which was stopped at the end of a line of traffic at a stop light. Damage was set at $590.

A motorcyclist was injured in a collision in the 900 block of Lawrence Street Friday afternoon. Fred R. Hitzeman, 930 Lawrence was driving a motorcycle out of the driveway at bis residence and Penny R. Potter, 1214 V4 Walnut was driving her car north on Lawrence Street when the collision occurred. Mr.

S. Sgt. and Mrs. Jack B. Duke, Little Rock Air Force Base, are the parents of a son bom Wednesday in St.

Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard H. Gotthardt, 1 South Sylvan and Mr.

and Mrs. Otto Duke of Eveningshade, Ark. Damage in the accident was set at $45. Cars driven by William R. Mushrush, Cottonwood Falls, and Teddy V.

Campbell, Mesa, were involved in an accident in the 2100 block of West Highway 50 Friday afternoon. Police said that both cars were eastbound. The Campbell car pulled onto the roadway in front of the Mushrush car, police said. Damage was set at $695. An estimated $425 damage resulted from a collision in the 500 block of Market Street Friday aft ernoon.

Police charged Michael E. Holroyd, 515 South Market with making an improper start from a parked position after the truck he was driving and a car driven by Timothy E. Fanning, Melvern, collided. Police charged Pauline M. Adam, 910 Congress with failing to yield the right-of-way from a stop sign in connection with their investigation of an accident Friday afternoon at Tenth Avenue and Mechanic Street.

Damage was set at $400 in the mishap. Susan K. Lake, 1109 Whittier was driving north and Pauline Adam was driving east after she had stopped for a stop sign when the collision occurred, according to police. ft ft ft About Town Lloyd Edwards, 1426 Lawrence a recent employe of the Burroughs Corporation, will be assigned to the office in Kansas City and not in Topeka, as was erroneously reported. The service was read Saturday noon, July 5th, in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Denver, Colo. The bride has been a member of the staff of the Social Welfare Department in Denver for a number of years. She was graduated from St. Mary's College in Xavier and she received her Master of Science degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. The bridegroom is a school supervisor in New York City.
