Basketball players, 2nd-graders are pals The Salina South High School Cougar Junior Varsity and Varsity boys' basketball teams have been pen pals with the second-graders in Kathleen Robbins' class at Grace E. Stewart School. The second-graders have learned to write letters, as well as gained role models. To culminate this three- month activity, the Cougar team came to Stewart School. The pen pals participated in activities. Then the second-graders served cherry pie they made from scratch in honor of President's Day to their pen pals. Coach Walgren and Coach Webb helped coordinate this writing project, as well as made it possible for the second-graders to attend one of the Cougar basketball games as a class. Every Friday, the second-graders wore the basketball T-shirts that the team presented them. An Important Buckle Up!
