LOUISVILLE-APPUANCE PARK Mor. than 10.000 people are employed producing the world's finest major appliances (capacity, 60,000 a week). A year later we INDUSTRIAL GROWTH ZTZ, and glass plants in Lexington. The building of Appliance Park, near Louisville, started in 1951. Work began on our Somerset glass plant in 1957.

And, in addition to these major projects, we have carried out other building and expansion during this postwar period. Today, our five Kentucky plants provide employment for almost 15,000 men and women. Several hundred more work in warehouses, service shops, and offices. Our annual Kentucky payroll is close to ninety-five million dollars. General Electric's growth in Kentucky has been aided in large measure by the abundance of human skills, natural resources, utility and transport facilities, and capable suppliers that are here.

We like Kentucky. The men and women we employ, and our community neighbors, are people with whom we are proud to be associated. We are glad we made the decision to locate a number of our plants in Kentucky. We look forward to the future in, and with, this great Commonwealth. SOMERSET-GLASS This plant makes borosilicate glass (a hord, pressed variety) for the lamp plant in Lexington.
