"It was a atarf, anyway," she says.

"I hope it leads to great opportunities discover Carol in "Adventures of A Young Man" because she has a very minor part. 13; 30 1 You'll have to look hard to in Manhattan. Then she headed for Hollywood. She won her chance at Fox on her own. She merely applied for a chance in the studio's new-talent program.

"THRILLING AND HILARIOUS, LIVELY AND FUNNY, A JOY AND DELIGHT IN THIS SAD WORLD!" was accepted, and eventually was signed to a long-term contract. CI'" I 1 CAROL CHRISTENSEN Suddenly a new young actress is winning attention in Hollywood. She's brunet Carol Christensen. After almost three years of preparation under contract at 20th Century-Fox. Carol aked for her release to accept roles offered elsewhere.

Her final performance at 20th was in "Adventures of A Young Man." based on stories by Krnest Hemingway which Jerry Wald produced. Two days after she was free' Carol was signed for a costarring role at Columbia, and other producers contacted her agent asking to interview her. Father Is An Engineer Carol's success isn't the result of an overnight discovery. She has worked for it with the thoroughness of an engineer, which is what she expected to be when attending Southfield High School in Detroit. Her father.

William Christensen. is an electro-aeronautic engineer. Apparently, Carol's beauty and personality got in her way. Perhaps she should have expected it would; at graduation she was voted "Class Flirt." "And I was going steady with a boy at the time, too," she says. Carol had no acting aspirations during childhood.

She studied ballet and tap dancing but only as part of her grow-ing-up process. Later, from the 10th to the 12th grades, she Was in 'The Big Show' Two days before'she was offered the Fox contract, she was given a costarrirtg role in "Freckles." Another movie, "Swingin' Along," followed. Next she got in "The Big Show." a circus drama which starred Esther Williams and Cliff Robertson, and then "Bachelor Flat." She's made three television shows. Her latest film is "The Three Stooges In Orbit." These statistics are mentioned because I think it is interesting to know how young girls, aspiring to be movie actresses, get in films. Many roads to stardon began as Carol's did.

Took Voice Lessons Carol, however, is a little different from some pretty girls who are groomed by studios and become starlets. She studied at Fox under the guidance of Sanford Meis-ner, the well known Broadway and Hollywood coach. On her own. she also took voice and School of Music and Dance from 3 to 6, in the afternoons, though she was not an instructor. She did receive special training from the instructors whenever they had a chance.

Today she is a better than average dancer. Worked For Car Firm During the summer, after graduation from high school, Carol took a secretarial job at American Motors and was quickly promoted to assignments with more and more important executives until an advertising photographer suggested she be shown in an automobile ad. That did it.
