THURSDAY, MARCH 20, 1952 ALTON EVENING TELEGRAPH Commencement May 26 Many Events Planned for Carrollton High Students *AOffi fflVS £ARROLLTON. - May 2fi is the date get for the annual oommrnce- ment program honoring members of the senior class of the local high school, according to an announcement made by the superintendent of the school, Olin Stead. Baccalaureate services will be held May 25 in the Methodist Church, and the annual student tea given in honor of the Baptist members of the class will be held May 22 in the Baptist Church. Coaches, principals, and super Intendents of schools in the Illinois Valley Conference will meet here March 24 to plan for the awarding of trophies to the winning schools. Track meets will also he planned at this meeting. March 28, the girls' chorus and a few male voices will be entered in the music festival at the Winchester High .School. The students will go to Winchester in the afternoon to rehearse with the students of other schools. School Holiday April 4, schools will be closed here so teachers can attend the annual Teachers' Institute at Fast St. Louis. April 5, Miss Lois Korte will accompany the Rirls' chqnis of the school lo the district music contest. Also on that date a track meet is scheduled at the Western Military Academy in Alton. School will he closed Good Friday and Iho Monday following. Future Student Day has been scheduled for April 16. On this day eighth grade pupils of the rural schools in this area, with members of the junior class of the Eldred High School, will visit the local school, where they will ftltend classes, learn school activities, nnd the courses offered. They will he guests of the school at lunch. The annual senior play will be given April 18 In the school gymnasium. The girls of the FHA Club will attend the FHA mlty at Virden April 19. Members of the school board and the faculty of the local school will have dinner at the school April 22. The meal will be served by the domestic science class. The Greene county track meet will be held at Roodhouse, April 25, Seniors of St. John's School will present, their annunl senior play in the public school gymnasium April 27. An FBI agent will be at the school April 28 at HI a.m. lo speak to members of (he senior class concerning (he possibilities of members of the class entering Into FBI work. Also April 28. the graduation exercises for eighth grade graduates of the rural schools will bo held in the local school building. On May 2, the Illinois Valley Con- ference truck meet will be held at a place to be announced later. The junior-senior prom xvill bo given In the school May 3. The annual style show, presented by FHA girls, will be given at 7;30 p.m., Mny 6, in the assembly room of the school. The district track meet will be held Mny 9. A high school music program Is being planned for Mny 13. The annual state track meet will be May 16 and ;17 In Champaign.
