The field was fast and the weather ideal and the grie was a real honest-to-good-ness fight from start to finish. Transylvania's line, as usual, played a hard, driving game. Although outweighed twenty pounds to the man the Pioneers sliced through on the defense and threw the Miami backs for losses time after time, but the brilliant playing of the line was off initial first down. As the score might indicate, Carson-Newman was outshined in every department except punting and a triple-threat tack by the name of Eliowitz had considerably the edge on Covington and Frown in this phase of the pastime.

This lad was the whole works for the invaders and without him, they would have fared considerably worse as he, playing at safety, halted many a Kentucky back on the race to the goal. Kentucky's ends, tackles guards and center pushed back every effort of the Tennesseans through the line, although they managed to pile up four first downs by means of penal- twenty-six yards for his markers. He made one of the runs after catching a pass. Centre's lone touchdown came In the final quarter, when darkness was slowly descending over the field. It was then that Centre uncorked a passing attack.

Mixing a few line plays with passes, Centre worked the ball up the seven-yard line and there May passed to Shearer for the touchdown. In addition to the three touchdowns by McEver, two touchdowns were made by Horner and one by Fuller. Tennessee scored early in the first quarter when the fleet-footed McEver dashed through the center of the line, reversed his field and sprinted six yards across the goal line. Dodd failed at goal. A few minutes later Tennessee ad- nine attempts at place kicking.
