PASO HERALD-POST, Friday, Oct. 28, 1955- Twenty EL Mrs. E. O. Williams Announces Chairmen for Turkey Dinner Woman of the Week-- Mrs.

Ross Rissler Mrs. Ross Rissler Is Civic-Minded Woman By FAYE She is an imported Texan ing more civic responsibilities enjoyment from working with Woman of the Week, Mrs. One of her pet organizations, the El Paso City Panhellenic, of which she is president, has recently been in the news, which makes this an opportune time to bring Mrs. Rissler to the front. When not attending to her outside activities, Mrs.

Rissler can be found in her home at 18 Cumberland circle, which she shares with her doctor-husband and two daughters, Priscilla, 13 and Betsy, 9. The family dachshund, Hans, completes the circle. Mrs. Rissler is a member of the speakers' bureau of the Medical Auxiliary, secretary of Woman's Department of the Chamber of Commerce, active member of Trinity Methodist Church, past secretary and president. of Kappa Kappa Gamma alumnae, a member of Hillside Elementary School P-TA, and the Woman's Club of El Paso, and chairman of the El Paso County Chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.

These are the many outside activities which keep her busy, and which make her the outstanding civic-minded person she is. Butler University in Indianapolis was the scene of her undergraduate days. From that university she received a bachelor of arts degree in Latin and English, and then became a teacher in the Perkins Institution for the deal Mass. and Because blind her in Watertown. was superintendent of the Indiana State School for the deaf, the Woman of the Week grew up with deaf children.

Her association in that field led her to the teaching of lip reading in the Indiana, War Public Il and Schools, a tour of duty with the Army brought Dr. and Mrs. Rissler to the Southwest. Once they were here, they stayed, and El Paso has since been their home. Mrs.

Rissler took advantage of Texas Western College, and in June of this year, received her master of arts degree in education and English. Of vital interest to Mrs. Rissler is her work with the polio foundation. In her own words, despite the discovery of vaccines, the work of the chapter is by no means done, for there are those who were stricken before the CORMIER who can't say no to acceptsimply because she gets pure people, and she is this week's Ross Rissler. vacinnes were available and who.

must continue to be treated and rehabilitated. Her important position with the polio chapter was an outgrowth of her association with the Mothers March on Polio campaign in 1953. Today, the Woman of the Week is winging her way back to El Paso after having attended the State Conference of City Panhellenics in Austin. As El Paso's representative to the conference she has been present at discussions and meetings for the improvement and furtherance of Panhellenic work, and no doubt, will have numerous ideas and suggestions for the local group. Her at-home diversions are primarily having fun with the family, and knitting and sewing.

The knitting, incidentally, does not interfere with the evenings of television, for she knits without looking at her work, a feat she had to learn to instruct blind children. Mrs. Rissler is a busy woman who enjoys being busy. In addition to the fact that she is interested in civic work and finds that she can't say no to responsibility, chances are, she wouldn't say no, for she has proven that she realizes the importance of women's work in the community. Glanced to catch a horrified-this-can't happen-to-me expression on his otherwise fairly placid face. The hostess caught it at the same time and, with many apologies, she retrieved the infant's menu and gave him the grown-up version.

Then, as an afterthought and purely to appease his injured pride, she offered him the colorful atlday sucker that was attached to the tiny menu. Hoping to espare him further embarrassment I interrupted what I was afraid might turn into a Waterloo disaster by saying quickly: dont' bother with that. He's much too grown-up for that now aren't you, Skippy?" "Oh, sure, Mother," it he blithely remarked, don't worry, it's not for me it's for you!" Then, while I squirmed under the hostess' puzzled gaze, Skippy polished me off with: "You know how you love the red ones." THIS 'N CHAT: It struck me (nope, didn't hurt) other day at the Pan-American Round Table meeting while listening to a Spanish group sing their native songs, that in their verses they invariably use the word "alma" and over again. Love their music madly anyway, and now even more On the other hand, our songs seldom use the English equivalent Must change the subject before I get over my second-head Am definitely not up to arguing with myself aujourd-hui demain, peut-etre mais aujourd-hui, non The Bo Crowells and Bates Belks taking off this weekend for a leisurely trip California way They'll visit Catherine Belks' sister in San To Observe Church Day Presbyterian Group Will Meet "General Church Day" will be observed by the Woman's Assn. of the First Presbyterian Church meeting Tuesday at the church.
