She was born in Owen County and lived here 60 years. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church. Zionsville. Thelma Sutphin. 68.

a lifelong Boone County resident, died Friday in her home. She worked with her husband. Howard A Sutphin. uho formerly owned Shell and Sinclair service stations. She was a member of Rosston Congregational Church.

He died Thursday in Methodist Hospital. A lifelong Indianapolis resident, he was the owner of Platers Supply Co. the last three years and was employed there 24 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge 17, American Legion Post 64 and Melody Hill Club. Survivors include his wife.

Pauline Bryant Eans dies; ex-nursing teacher, civic leader Services for Pauline Bryant Eans, 75, 1451 West 34th Street, a civic leader and retired nursing in Helen K. Sutton Thomas W. Woolsey Edward J. Smith Edward J. Smith, 56, a lifelong Indianapolis resident and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, died Friday in his home.

He had been a toolmaker 29 years for Western Electric Co. and was a member of Eastminster United Presbyterian Church. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Feeney-Hornak Shade-land Mortuary, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Austin Smith, and a son, Steven A. Smith. structor, will be held at 1 p.m. Mon-day in Barnes United Methodist Church, of which she was a member. She died Thurs-day in Winona Memorial Hospital.

Sunday. He died Thursday in Hancock Memorial Hospital at Greenfield. A native and longtime resident of Hancock County, Mr. Beaver was a retired farmer and for 18 years he worked at Delco Remy Division of General Motors Corp. at Anderson, retiring in 1960.

He moved to Shirley about eight years ago to live with his son. An Army veteran of World War he was a member of Old Mount Zion EUB Church and attended Fortville Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jean Perry, and a son, Robert P. Beaver. Charlotte Bradley Thorntown, Ind.

Charlotte E. Cones Bradley, 76, Thorntown, died in her home Friday. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Russell and Hitch Funeral Home here, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday.

A Boone County native, she had lived in Thorntown all her life and had worked at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. plant at Noblesville, and later as a maid at Sunset Motel near here. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church at Frankfort. She is survived by her husband, James Troy Bradley, and a daughter, Marjorie Marschke. George F.

Butalla Services for George F. Butalla, 25, a lifelong Indianapolis resident, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, and at 10 a.m. in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, of which he was a member.

He died Wednesday in Wishard Memorial Hospital. The Marion County Coroner's office is investigating the cause of death. Survivors include his parents, Paul and Eula Butalla; a sister. Ruth Ann Butalla; a Helen Keith' Sutton. 72, Brownsburg, widow of Charles C.

Sutton, died Friday in St. Francis Hospital Center. She had been a secretary and cashier for Gateway Transportation retiring in 1969. Born at Franklin. Mrs.

Sutton was a lifelong resident of the Indianapolis area, a member of Teamsters Union Local 135, and past president of Indianapolis Women's Traffic Club. Services will be held at 2 30 p.m. Monday in Wilson-St. Pierre Greenwood Chapel, where friends may call from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Sunday. Survivors include three daughters, Beverly O'Brian. Pat Mitchell and Maryann Bradley. Association and had served as director of its library and civic center following her retirement. Mrs.

Eans was appointed to the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee by former mayor Richard G. Lugar and served on the committee during his tenure. The National Council of Negro Women cited her in 1977 for "outstanding contributions to the community and to the city of Indianapolis." She was a former member of the council's national board of directors. Mrs. Eans was the recipient of numerous awards for her community and public service, including several from former Gov.

Otis R. Bowen, who honored her for service to nursing and Indiana. For 14 years, she was chairman of the commission of finance for Barnes Church, where she taught Sunday school and worked with the church's youth. She was a member and had held national offices in the United Methodist Women of America. Mrs.

Eans was a member of the American Nurses Association and served on that group's national board of directors. She was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Sigma Gamma Rho sorority and Sigma Theta Tau nursing sorority. She was the widow of the Rev. Robert Mamie Louise Smith Services for Mamie Louise Smith, 63, 2540 North Illinois Street, will be held at 1 p.m.

Tuesday in McCane Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. She died Thursday in Wishard Memorial Hospital. Survivors include her husband, A.C.

Smith. Thomas William Woolsey, 77. Indianapolis, died Friday in Methodist Hospital. A native of Clay City, he lived in Indianapolis 50 years. He was a retired painter with the Indianapolis Motor He was a member and former trustee of Covenant Baptist Church and a member of Lvnhurst Masonic Lodge 723.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Flanner and Buchanan High School Road Mortuary, where friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Survivors include his wife, Okie Woolsey; a daughter, Beverly West; and three i sons.

McCarty Yakel, 90, Indian-' I apolis, widow of John Yakel, died Friday in a Beech Grove nursing home. A native of Terre Haute, she had lived here most of her life and was a member of i Edgewood United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral home, where friends may call taught 22 years at Wishard Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, retiring in 1977.

She was a graduate of Grady Hospital School of Nursing and Clark University, both in Atlanta, and received a master's degree in public health nursing from the University of Michigan. Formerly on the faculties of Alabama College and Lincoln University, Mrs. Eans had completed her doctoral studies at New York University and would have received the degree upon completion of her dissertation. She was a founder of Northwest Civic A. Wayne Edwards Emmons E.

Thomas Fortville. Ind. Emmons E. Thomas, 84. rural Fortville, formerly of rural McCordsville and a retired farmer, died Friday at a Greenfield nursing home.

A native and longtime Hancock County resident, he was a member of the Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodge, Madison County Shrine Club and Fortville Christian Church. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Ronald Seals Funeral Home here, where friends may call after noon Sunday. Survivors include a daughter, Estella Sharritt. and two sons, Master Sgt.

Joanne Sommers Dorothy Joanne Swift Sommers, 51, 9503 West 59th Street, a naturalist the last two years at Eagle Creek Park Nature Center, died Friday in Hendricks County Hospital at Danville. A native of Beech Grove, Mrs. Sommers was a member of St. Malachi Catholic Church, Capitol City Sweet Adelines, Indianapolis Art League, Indy Weavers, National Audubon Society, National Wildlife Federation, American Forestry Association, and was past chairman of 9-Hole Speedway Golf League. Services will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Monday in Stevens Chapel of the Flowers, and at 10 a.m. in the church. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Sunday in the mortuary. Survivors include her husband, Raymond F.

Yakel. Hope C. Zillgitt Hope C. Zillgitt, 48, 11 Thornhurst Drive, a social worker at Lutheran Child Welfare Association, died Friday in St. Vincent Hospital.

A native of Broadlands, she had lived here nine years. Mrs. Zillgitt was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, where her husband, Rev. Arthur D.

Zillgitt, is pastor. She was a graduate of Elmhurst (III.) College and George Warren Brown School of Social Work. St. Louis, Mo. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m.
