Raiders, 3 Phoenix Suns reserve power forward Kenny Gattison will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and will be lost for the 1987-88 NBA season, club officials said. The 6-8 Gattison, a second-year player, injured his knee in a controlled scrimmage Monday night at the Suns' preseason training camp in upstate Flagstaff when he scored on a layup and turned to head upcourt. There was no contact on the play, but Gattison 's knee buckled and he collapsed in pain on the floor. Suns spokesman. Tom Ambrose said Gattison was scheduled to! undergo a four-hour arthroscopic surgery Tues-; day night to repair and reconstruct his knee.

The Suns released three players. Including second-year guard Grant Gondrezick, one of three players indicted in the Suns' drug scandaj last spring. The Suns also released rookie guards Bruce Dalrymple and Steve Beck. Doctors tell Bonnett to rest Doctors say Neil Bonnett should sit out the, rest of the NASCAR Winston Cup season while, he recovers from a broken femur in his right but the driver's team isn't convinced he'll stay, put. "The doctor said he'd be out for the rest of the season, but Neil's so hard-headed he might try to drive again this season.
