THE BOARD postponed Aug. 21 a rezoning of land owned by the Indianapolis Airport Authority near Weir Cook Airport, so that residents of the area could confer with airport authorities.

An airport official had asked the commission to act on a 12- acre site north of Raymond Street and west of Interstate 465 so that the construction can start on relocating a car rental firm and clearing traffic problems. Also awaiting zoning action are 450 acres south of the airport, where a new runway is to be built by 1982. However, commisison member E. J. Cox, a resident of the area in Decatur Township, accused airport officials of bad public relations because of failure to communicate directly with the residents.

"I LOCATED my house to be in between two runways, and now I don't know if you're going to aim one right at me," Cox asserted to airport property manager Robert Duncan. The commission approved rezoning of 13.5 acres at 8550 Spring Mill Road for a residential I planned unit development; 7.1 acres at 5935 Spring Mill Road for a planned unit development of cluster housing; and 14.2 acres at 6441 North Keystone Avenue for an office park. The Keystone Avenue site was sought by Dan Young Chevrolet which had tried unsuccessfully to get zoning for other types of projects at that location during the last few years. Also approved was zoning of six acres at 6202 Northwestern Avenue for an office park. Mrs.
