Father David Gottschalk officiated at the ceremony. Parents of the couple are are Melvin and Connie Schmidt, Victoria, and Dale and Utanna Ashbaugh, Hill City.

Grandparents are Joe and Eleanor Berger, Hays, Ruth Hyde, Hill City, the late Wendelin and Pauline Schmidt and the late Harry Carl Hyde. The bride was escorted by her father. The honor atendant was Jaclyn Schmidt, sister of the bride. Attendants were Gina Dreiling, Hollie Ptacek and Cheryl Schmidt, friends' of the bride, and Jolie Schmidt, cousin of the bride. The best man was Spencer Goff, friend of the bridegroom.

Groomsmen were William Ashbaugh, brother of the bridegroom, and Kyle Schamberger, Brock Ratzlaff and Darin Kaiser, friends of the bridegroom. and Mrs. Bill Witthuhn Mr. and Mrs. Bill Witthuhn, Hays, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 14, 2002, with a reception for friends and relatives from 1 to 4 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hurlbut Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hurlbut formerly of Luray and Lucas, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Sept.

Meder-Garrison Elizabeth Meder and Branden Garrison, together with their parents, Jerry and Teresa Meder, Camdenton, Steve and Susan Pelzel, Larned, Jerry and Dee Ann Garrison and Kippy Garrison, all of Hays, announce their engagement and approaching marriage. Grandparents of the couple are Helen Meder, Pfeifer, the late Gilbert Meder, Roy Anderson, Utica, the late Betty Anderson, Frank and Marie Garrison, Hill City, and Bill and Nada Craig, Meade. The bride-elect graduated from Larned High School, Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree and Colby Community College dental hygiene school. Henry McClure Mr. and Mrs. Henry McClure, Hill City, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 18, 2002. The children of the couple invite friends and relatives to join them in a card shower to honor their parents' anniversary.
