Confusion resulted among Anniston viewers recently when Cablevision tried to clear one of the two PBS channels, Channel 10 or Channel 7, to carry new programming. Channel 10 had been a direct cable feed from the APTN studios in Birmingham.

Channel 7 was the same programming, only broadcast from WCIQ, APTN's transmitter on Mount Cheaha. In recent weeks, Cablevision Co. of Anniston has shown the NCAA basketball championships from ESTN, a Connecticut network, on Channel 10 and APTN on Channel 7. Lee said the problem in transferring APTN to Channel 7 was that "off the air" interference prevented Anniston cable subscribers from getting good reception on their Channel 7. "Off the arr, interference is a signal coming directly to the TV set from a transmitter, interfering with a cable signal.

To solve the problem, Cablevision Co. of Anniston will show APTN on Channel 10 again, and Channel 7 will be blank, except where individual TV sets pick up transmissions directly from WCIQ on Mount Cheaha.
