A career soldier, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam His wartime assignments included service with the 32nd Infantry Division in the Papua Campaign in New Guinea and with the Burma guerrilla unit during World War In the Korean War he was assigned to Headquarters, First U.S. Army Corps. Mr. Stauch was a highly decorated soldier receiving a total of 24 medals, including the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.

Following his retirement from active duty, Mr. Stauch was employed by Department of the Army as the Information Representative for the XXI Army Corps, then as the Public Information cer for Fort Benjamin Harrison and later as the Information cer for the U.S. Army Finance and Acc ounting He retired from civil service while serving as Chief, Public Affairs ce Chicago District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A former member of the Indianapolis and Chicago Federal Executive Boards and Press Clubs he held lifetime memberships in the Disabled Veterans Association, the Burma Star Association, VFW Post 1550 and the Marauders He was a past Indiana State Commander of the Veterans Association and held memberships in the Greencastle American Legion Post and Elks Lodge He was also the co-founder and past president of the Lawrence National Exchange Club.

He attended both Shortridge and Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis followed by graduation from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. He married Rosalyn Edell who preceded him in death. He worked as a residential real estate manager in the greater Indianapolis area.

Rick was a loving brother, father, grandfather, and uncle. He cherished time with his family and was a euchre nado. He loved football and was a proud Colts season ticket holder. He also enjoyed traveling to West Lafayette to watch Purdue games and visit with fellow Sigma Chi Fraternity alumni. affable nature gained him friends wherever he went.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son Michael (Courtney) Rudy of Carmel, two daughters, Michelle (Zach) Mitchell of Avon and Jenna (Lane) Lowenstein of Zionsville, brother A.B. Jr. (Mary) Rudy of Indianapolis, and sister Pat (George) Fleet of Greensboro, Georgia. He adored his seven grandsons: Elliott, Evan, and Noah Rudy; Jonah and Silas Mitchell; Caleb and Ross Lowenstein.

He also had beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Mary Lou, of Montgomery, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, February 18, She was preceded in death by her sister Betty Jolley, her daughter, Diane, and her husband of 59 years, She is survived by her sons, Dale and Mary Lou grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Irving J. Cromer and Marie C. (Feddersen) Cromer. After graduating from Southwest High School in Kansas City, she spent a year at Gulf Park College in Gulfport, Mississippi before moving on to DePauw University, in Greencastle, She was very active in the Pi Beta Phi sorority while at DePauw, where she graduated in 1949 with a B.A. in English and a minor in English was a specialty for her as she had a life-long love of For years she kept a list of the books with good shelf in her purse, and she would check off each book after she with it.
