It was only the second victory in 14 games for the Mets. Nine home runs were hit in the game, five by the Mets. Neal and Don Demeter of the Phillies hit two, while Clay Dalrymple and Tony Gonzalez of the Phils and Jim Hickman of the Mets had one apiece. Thomas' four-bagger, with a man on base, was his fifth of the season. Roger Craig, last of four New York pitchers, was credited with the victory after turning in three scoreless innings.

Frank Sullivan, third of five Philadelphia pitchers, was the loser. It was the first home victory for the Mets, one of the National League's new teams. They had lost seven straight at the Polo Grounds. iflhlllfrtliiii i jMsliiliSWMMMsi GOOD FISHING Fishing on Morse Reservoir is good this spring and Ivan Holshaosen, 6261 Windsor, has the bass 1o prove it. LIVE YOlTXfiEII XSU 1IETTEII By 'BAYOU BILL SCIFRES UATER POLLUTION killed "a total of 15,000,000 fish last year in the United States, but only 40,895 were killed in Indiana, according to a report of the Public Health Service of the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Although the Hoosier share of slightly more than 40,000 is small in comparison to some other states, it still represents an increase of 100 per cent over 1960 when the same agency reported a total of fish killed by pollution in Indiana. This year's report shows on a national level that agricultural poisons led all known sources of fish kills, followed by industrial wastes which was first last year.

A total of 444 individual kills are represented in the summaries, many of them attributed to more than one source. TOTALS BY categories and the number of fish killed are: Agricultural poisons, 75 reports, 5,600,000 fish killed; industrial wastes, 150 reports, 2,900.000 fish killed; mining operations, 19 reports, fish killed; other sources, 60 reports, 184,000 fish killed; domestic sewage, 52 reports, 162,000 fish killed; source unknown, 79 reports, 5,800,000 fish killed. Last year's report showed a total of 286 kill reports from 36 states for a total of fish killed. Industrial wastes led, last year, followed by agricultural poisons in the number of fish killed. Five states this year did not make reports of fish kills as a result of pollution either because they did not occur or kills were not of significant amounts.

Total river mileage effected in the latest report was 1,700 miles, in addition to 50 miles of lake and bay shore lines and 6,000 acres of lakes, reservoirs and bays. THREE BIG kills accounted for most of the fish killed by pollution in Indiana. They were the pollution of Big Monon Ditch at Frances-ville on July 17 when 10,000 fish were killed; Wolf Lake on May 2 when 20,000 fish were killed, and Wolf Lake Channel PhllooXphio New York ob rbl ob rbi Exercise Benefits Lost At The Table Taylor .2 4 0 0 5 2 0 Asnournt 4 i a HicKmonl 1 1 1 Chocon.ss 3 0 0 -Boucn 10 0 Craig 0 0 0 5 3 3 4 1 0 3 0 0 0 0 0 4 2 2 Bell.rf 5 1 0 Thomos.lf 5 3 2 5 3 2 3 2 1 Hodoes.lb 3 1 I 4 0 0 Coilisofi.rf Torre.l Covington, Klaus 4 Dmttr Amoro.M Owens, Hamilton, Short Severs '-Consolo Keejon-p Monhllo.J-ss I 2 1 0 2 1 0 0 0 0 Demerit 0 0 0 0 0 0 Chrtu 1 0 0 0 0 0 'Hook J) 0 0 0 Mm i Miller 1 0 0 GbITIuIQ! 0 0 0 0 0 0 (Editor's Note: This is the fourth in a series of weekly articles on health and physical fitness for the average man.) "1 rpst The aver age athlete can be more rested after five hours of sleep than thp a a FIRST, AS OUR key to losing weight and almost enjoying it, let us take a leaf from the book of Olympic athletes. A major step in any diet is cutting down the sugar intake.

The Olympians have the answer and it's honey, sweet, delicious honey. Coffee drinkers in the audience (and we will get to them later) will be relieved to know they can have their coffee and like it, by subbing honey for sugar. This is akin to a gourmet's delight. PARRV O'BRIEN, the great shot putter, was perhaps the first to publicize the energiz ing benefits of honey. Parry took two tablespoons in a glass of hot water an hour before he was to compete.

Most distance runners now do the same. The things you should not eat, if you wish to lose weight are perhaps more well known than the things you should. The trick is to set yourself a goal within your reach. Don't try to deny yourself ALL of the' pound-packers. I will list 10 of the main ones.

Pick out five you can live witliout on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Then I will list a few of the things you should eat. Select six of these to sub for five on the other list. With honey's help, you'll soon note the difference, not only in how you feel, but how much you weigh. iFj I' 2 it Hit UMI0M VIMS Ml IWIW i IMMEDIATE DELIVERY BRAND-NEW 1962 VALIANT BERNIE HERMAN Action and Interviews JIM MclNTYRE Tracksidt his business FRED AGABASHIAN A champion himself BONNIE CAD0U The lady's angle TOM CARNEGIE Chief Announcer 500 Speedway Delmontique -man after a slugabed 10.

However, all the good you accomplish through exercise can be almost undone by the food that you eat. Now we are treading on delicate ground. LETS FACE IT few of us have either the will power or strictly regimented diet, unless of course the doctor has given us six months to live. If that's your case, you're in better hands than mine. I am taking for granted that you are not Archie Moore and dont' have to get down to 175 in the next 21 days.

You merely want to lose a few pounds. Two-Ball Tourney Billed At Riverside A two-ball tournament, open to the general public, is scheduled for Riverside golf course next Sunday.
