Dan Q'Her- Uncle Ravi By A school class, a fourth grade, has sent me this question: "If the earth's gravity keeps the moon from going out into space, why doesn't the earth pull the moon and make it crash to the ground?" The revolving planets in our solar system enjoy a balance that keeps them an even distance from the sun.

If they were flung outward far back in time, it would seem that they have reached points where the outward thrust equals the pull of the sun's gravity. THE SAME PROCESS would apply to the moons which go around some of the planets. If a balance exists, a given moon will stay almost exactly in the same orbit for a vast period of time. As far as people now on earth are concerned, our moon will seem to stay in exactly the same orbit during their entire lives. IF WE THINK ahead for, let us say, a thousand million years, it is possible that the moon will come closer to the earth.

During eons of time, we may expect gravity to win the battle, pulling any cast-off objects toward the central bodies. Q. What will happen if moon gets far closer during the next few billion years? Why Crash Freddie Bartholomew, Mickey Rooney and Spencer Tracy. A spoiled brat learns the hardway that friendship is made and not bought. 5:00 P.M.

Hemingway's story of a group of Spanish Loyalists and an American adventurer who pledge to destroy a bridge, during the Spanish Civil War. Also, "Canon City" (1948), with Scott Brady and Jeff Corey.

12:00 CD Midnight Movie. "Cass Timberlane" (1947), with Spencer Tracy and Lana Turner. A respected, lonely Minnesota judge marries a girl from a low-class family and their life is almost ruined by the judge's elite friends. TV Sports 1:15 P.M. NCAA Doesn't The Moon To The Ground? RAMON COFFMAN a certain position, it is figured that the gravity pull will become so strong that the moon will be shattered into millions of pieces.

These pieces are expected to form one or more rings similar to the rings of the planet Saturn. For SCIENCE section of your scrapbook.
