1 San Saba News Slat- April 20, Cancer Crusade Gets Underway Tuesday, Aipril 11, was "kick-off" day for the Crusade to raise funds for the county- unit of American Cancer Society. Some 40 persons were pfel- 6nt for the kick-off at 10 Tuesday, in the home of R. C. Felts, Crusade chairman, Among those present were S. G.

Boynton, county president; and Frank Graham, district field director. Each person working in the Crusade may be identified by a badge attached to their clothing. Educational material will be left at every home called upon by the volunteer workers whether or not a person gives to the fund. "This is a very vital time for funds to be increased for research, etc. Your contribution may help wipe out cancer in your life time," Airs.

Dean Earnest F. Gloyna honored the Fellows with a reception Thursday, April 13, in the UT Austin Union Building. Academically, the Engineering Fellows represent the top five per cent of the sophomore, junior and senior classes in the College. CLOWE BOSA IEE CIOWE SAN SABA PH. 372-3311 Rites Held For Joe Carrigan Funeral rites for Joseph B. Carrigan, 49, 1805 Summitt, Dallas, former San Saba county were held at 10 iajn. Saturday, April 15, in 'Howell-Doran Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Albert Brown.

Burial was in Goldthwaite Cemetery under the direction of Howell Doran Funeral Home. Pallbearers included Archie Rutherford, Woodrow Johnson, Trenton Hamrick, Jody Whitley, iNouiman H. Hardmaoi and iLoyd Locker. Carrigan, a hair stylist, died at 9 a-m. Wednesday, April at his home in Dallas.

He was born 16, 1922, in Lampasas, son of Randolph Carrigan and Rosa Chisom Carrigan. He was a bachelor and a World War II veteran. He had been a resident in Dallas for 15 years. Survivors include two brothers, Jim Carrigan of Glen Rose and R. V.

Carrigan of Junction; a sister, Mrs. Vera Bowden of Big Lake. and certified the election and declared Mayor H. D. Chadwick Aldermen Tommic Tinney and Joe Ragsdale duly elected.

Rcavis administered the oath of office to the newly elected members and Joe Ragsdale was elected to serve as Mayor Pro Tem to April 1974. W. Owen Parks, secretary of San Saba Municipal Golf Association, met with the Council to get approval of hiring Jerry Turner as a maintenance man at a salary of $350 per month, starting April 1. He is to be carried on the city payroll and will receive his check each first and 15th of the month, however, the Golf Association is to re-imburse the City for his salary and social security. The Council voted approval.

The Council had a discussion about the article that ap- ipeared in a recent issue of the local newspaper pertaining to the City spending of the one cent sales tax money and decided to make the following statement: "Since there seems to be Some question about the integrity of the City Council, they invite any interested party or parties to visit with the Council when payment on the one cent sales tax income is received so that they may determine that the money is being spent in keeping with statements made by the Council." The Council a Law Enforcement Interlocal Assistance Resolution, authorizing law officers to assist any other county or municipality when the mayor or other officer authorized, declared a state of civil emergency requesting their assistance, etc. Jody Lewis, Maurice Lusty, Ricky Willborn, Jerry Willborti, Henry Lewis, Robert Burleson and John Gibson visited Ronald and Russell Moore during the weekend.
