He was a patient at the hospital four days.

NELLIE MERRIFIELD Former Wilkes-Barrean Will Be Buried at 3 on Wednesday Mrs. Louise Hofsomer Shannon, 78, of Drexel Hill, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died yesterday morning at Fitzgerald Mercy Hos pital at Lansdowne. She was admitted to the hospital on Friday.

Mrs. Shannon, the former Louise Mason, was born in Plymouth, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Mason. Her mother taught school at the Home for Friendless Children for many years. Mrs. Shannon came to Wilkes-Barre at 16 and resided here for 60 years, moving to Drexel Hill two years ago.

She was married to late Louis A. Hofsomer, a furniture dealer, for more than 50 years prior to his death 5 years ago. Surviving are her husband, Frank Shannon, formerly of West Pittston, who is the grand secretary of Pennsylvania IOOF Lodge; a daughter, Mrs. John Baker, Wilkes-Barre; step-children, Mrs. Anna Purcell, Baltimore; Mrs.

MARY E. BOONE Mrs. Mary Ellen Boone, 84, widow of James Boone, died at the home of her son, A. Clarence Boone, 625 Fourth Street, West Pittston, Sunday morning at 12:10 following an illness of two weeks. Born in England, she resided in West Pittston for the last 15 years.

Previously she made her home in Scranton for more than 50 years. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, West Pittston. Surviving are three sons: James, Scranton; Edward, New York City, and A. Clarence, West Pittston; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Perks, gcranton; Miss Susan Hollow, Dunmore, and two brothers, Charles Hollow and Rjchard Hollow, both of Dunmore'; also three grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from a funeral home, 802 Mul berry Street, Scranton, on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, with interment in Dunmore Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p. m. Monday. MRS.

JULIUS WATERS Mrs. Julius Waters, 58, a former resident of Pittston, died Friday at Miami, Fla. Mrs. Waters, who made her home with her daughter, Mrs. D.

J. Van Osdell, had been ill for several months late Ebenezer and Elvira Davis Evans, who for many years lived in Pittston. Mrs. Waters moved to Miami three years ago. She was a member of First Methodist Church, Pitttston, and Pittston Women's Club.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Van Osdell; Mrs. James McLaughlin, Montrose; Mrs. Harry Evans, West Pittston, and by seven grandchildren. Remains will arrive In Pittston today.

BENJAMIN GRYNIEWICKI Benjamin Gryniewicki of 65 West Field Street, Nanticoke, died Saturday at his home. A native of Poland, he resided in Nanticoke for 42 years. Mr. Gryniewicki was a member of Holy Trinity Church and was affiliated with ZNP Lodge and Polish American Citizens' Club. Surviving are his widow, Phyl-! lis; children, Stefania, Nanticoke; Richard, Rochester; brothers, Ignatius, Plymouth; Stanley, Nanticoke, and two brothers and a sister in Poland.

MARY ELLEN SYMONS Mrs. Mary Ellen Tamblyn Symons, 86, of 253 Scott Street, died yesterday afternoon at her home following one years illness. She was born in England December 29, 1862 and came to this country at an early age.

She settled in Parsons and lived in East End, most of her life. She was an active member and founder of Bennett Memorial Church; and also a charter member of Ladies' Aid, now WSCS. She was a teacher of Berean Bible Class for many years. Surviving are four sons, Wilfrid at home; Harold and Thomas Wilkes-Barre; Walter, Philadelphia; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Kiebler, Kingston; Mrs.

Greyson Morrison, Pittsburgh; sister-in-law, Mrs. Thomas Tamblyn, Walden, N. 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her husband, Walter J. Symons, died in 1926 and her daughter, Mrs.

PAUL W. ECKERT Paul W. Eckert, former well known resident of Ashley, died yeeterdav morning at his home, 5821 -Ellsworth Street, Philadelphia, following several months illness. Mr. Eckert was a member of Coalville Lodge 474, and AM, Keystone Consistory; Coalville Lodge, 689, IOOF.

He was a veteran of World War 1. He was also a member of Ashley Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Ellen R. Johnson, formerly of Ashley and one sister, Carolyn Eckert of Philadelphia. The funeral and burial will be held in Philadelphia.
