Our only problem is sex. He believes if I love him that petting is all right. We disagree on the meaning.of adultery. He says it means being unfaithful to your wife or husband. I thought it also meant going all the way before marrying.

Who is right? What are the limits of petting? My mother has always told me to watch my step because a boy would tell you anything to get you to go all the way. My boyfriend said she probably told me that so I would be scared, which I am. He said if I think he is going with me for that one reason, he would break with me so fast I wouldn't know what had happened. I am 16 and have two more years of high school. After that I plan to take a business course before I settle down to raise a Dear Mixed-Up r- Your boy friend is trying to sell you a bill of goods.

With it goes a box full of trouble which he doesn't mention. Petting is the down payment. Once you permit him to kiss and cuddle, you're opening up that trouble box. Being young and inexperienced, you'll never be able to shnt it. Your boy friend is right about the definition of adultery, however.

Webster says it means unfaithfulness of a married person, and adds that "under the English common law adultery is not a crime hut is a subject of ecclesiastical censure only." However, in certain states in the United States, it is a crime. Dear Helen We thoroughly enjoy your clean-cut, straightforward advice and so often discern tenderness, compassion nd grave concern for your correspondents and their problems. That's one reason why your husband is what he is. Make him feel in charge. Build him up. Give him back his ego. Let him be the provider and you'll have a real man instead of an irresponsible kid for a husband.
