GRAHAM: I have lost my job and, now, I just feel useless. know you probably believe that God has a plan: for our lives, but frankly I can't see it. H.B.: DEAR H.B.: I know that losing a job can be one of the most difficult times in life for some people, especially when they're unable to find employment again. You are not useless, and God wants to help you during this time. First of all, if it looks unlikely that you will be able to get a job in the same field as your old job, I encourage you to explore new opportunities.

For example, your local community college or another agency may have programs that are specifically designed to retrain people like you. You might consider a move to another area. I know these may not be practical steps for you but the point is to do all you can to regain employ- ment and not just sit around getting more and more discouraged. MAKE USE of your time right now to help others. Sometimes, we get so absorbed in our own problems: that we forget how much we have to give other people.

Go to your pastor and tell him of your availability to help in any way you can. Services for Edward F. Brooks, 78, Indianapolis, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in G.H. Herrmann South East Street Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 p.m.

Bridgeforth, and a son, Thomas V. Bridgeforth Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation. I received a letter not long ago from a man who had been unemployed for some months. At first, he felt useless, but finally decided to volunteer his time to his church.

He became involved in his church's program to help shut-ins and said had never felt more fulfilled in his life. God wants to use you right now in some special way. Ask Him to help you find it. REALIZE ALSO that God wants to help you by teaching you some new things about yourself and your relationship with Him. You are im portant to God, and He loves you whether you are able to work right now or not.

"Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness" (Matthew 6:25, 33). Perhaps God wants to teach you to trust Him more than you have been doing in the past. Perhaps He wants to point out areas of your life that need His touch. If you have never accepted Christ, God wants you to turn to Him right now. Then let God's Word, the Bible, become your daily companion, and ask Christ to help you discover His perfect will for you and your family at this time.
