Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in Stuart Mortuary. Born in Holden, W.Va., he died there Tuesday while visiting his father. A 28-year resident of Indianapolis, he had worked as a laborer for 11 years with Chrysler retiring in 1975.

A Navy veteran of World War II. he was a member of the United Auto Workers union and his church's usher board. men's choir and laymen's group. Survivors include his wife, Mary Barrett; a son, Robert R. Barrett; and his father, Robert C.

Barrett. Donald H. Batey Services for Donald H. Batey, 56, Indianapolis, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Flanner and Buchanan Shadeland Mortuary, where friends may call from 5 p.m.

to 9. p.m. Monday. He died Friday in Methodist Hospital from injuries suffered in an auto accident Monday. Born in Evanston, he lived in Indianapolis 35 years.

He had been a small-business specialist at Naval Avionics. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Central Christian Church and Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge 398, and was a past president and member of Ohio Indian Craft and Culture Association and Tecumseh Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Jean E. Batey; two daughters, Donna J. Tompkins and Debra J.

Batey; and a son, Daniel J. Batey. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church or Tecumseh Lodge. Grover C. Bates Grover C.

Bates, 91, Indianapolis, died Saturday in St. Vincent Hospital. Born in Birdseye in Dubois County, and an Indianapolis resident 72 years, he had been a craftsman for American Telephone Telegraph Co. 43 years, retiring in 1957. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and a charter member of Westbrook Church of the Nazarene.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Conkle Speedway Funeral Home, where friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Survivors include four sons.

Ind. Calling for Matthew W. Beatty, 9 months, Plainfield, will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home.

He was born in Indianapolis and died Friday in Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis. Survivors include his parents, Mark and Mona Beatty; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Beatty and Billie McCormick.

Richard W. Bromert Services for Richard W. Bromert, 77, Tallahassee, formerly of Indianapolis, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Crown Hill Cemetery Peace Chapel, where friends may call 30 minutes before the services. He died May 18 in Community Hospital in Tallahassee.

Born in Whitney, he lived in Indianapolis for 53 years and had been a salesman at Sears Roebuck and Co. for 32 years. He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Tallahassee. Survivors include his wife, Mona Bromert; and two daughters, Suzanne Oltman and Jane Hancock. Mildred I.

Choate Mildred I. "Betty" Choate, 75, Indianapolis, widow of John D. Choate, died Saturday in Winona Memorial Hospital. Born in Indianapolis, she had lived here most of her life. Services will be held at 3 p.m.

Monday in Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary, where friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Survivors include a son, Jerry A. Hostetler.

G. Coffman Services for Barbara G. McMillian Coffman, 37, Indianapolis, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Little and Sons Funeral Home in Beech Grove, where friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

today and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. She died Friday in her home. She was born in Cincinnati and had lived here most of her life, and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, Mooresville.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas A. Coffman; two sons, Kevin and Arthur Thomas Coffman two daughters, Cindy A. and Sherry L. Coffman; and her mother, Maudie Roller. June L.

Dubin Services for June L. Bigelow Dubin, 61, Monterey, formerly of Indianapolis, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in El Carmelo Cemetery in Monterey. Paul Mortuary in Monterey is handling the arrangements. She died Thursday in a Monterey hospital.

Born in Indianapolis, she lived here until 1954 and had been a sales clerk at Block's for about five years. She was the widow of Harry Dubin. Survivors include a son, Mark Dubin. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Noblesville, Ind.

Services for Marshal E. "Ding" Millikan, 75, Paris, IlL, formerly of Noblesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Randall and Roberts Funeral home here, where friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m.

to 8 p.m. today. He died Friday in his home. Born in Westfield, he lived in Noblesville most of his life and had been a pipe fitter for Firestone Industrial Products 25 years, retiring in 1971. Survivors include a daughter, Hughetta Beals.

Joan McGervey Carmel, Ind. A memorial service for Joan Scheel McGervey, 65., Carmel, will be held at 5 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Brebeuf Preparatory School. She died last Monday in St. Vincent Hospital.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, she lived here 18 years and was a member of the St. Augustine Guild, St. Vincent Hospital Guild and Central Indiana Radio Reading. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence McGervey; two daughters, David and Pam Groover; and three sons, Franklyn, Jon and David Wright. Memorial contributions may be made to St.

Vincent Hospital Guild or St. Augustine Guild. Clarence E. Meyer Clarence E. Meyer, 86, died Saturday in Community Hospital.

A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, he had been a chief clerk for New York Central Railroad for 50 years, retiring in 1958. He then had worked for Indiana National Bank for five years as a mail clerk. He was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church and Brotherhood of Railway Clerks Allen Lodge 1229. Services will be held at 1.

p.m. Tuesday in St. Matthew. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Monday in G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home and an hour before the services Tuesday in the church. Survivors include his wife, Sophia C. Martlage Meyer, and a daughter, Gladys K. Allgood.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Willie Neely Willie Neely, 89, Indianapolis, died Saturday in St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Wayne County, and farmed there all his life, moving here nine months ago. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Wayne County.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hoyt Hickey and Sons Funeral Home in Monticello, Ky. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in Little and Sons Funeral Home in Beech Grove.

Survivors include his wife, Mary M. Neely; four daughters, Esteen Hammond, Juanita Tucker, Glenna Tucker and Lynna New; and four sons, Elery, Gilbert, Billy and Willie Neely Jr. Ivan D. Poole Ivan D. Poole, 65, Indianapolis, died today in St.

Vincent Hospice. Born in Attica, he lived in Indianapolis for 43 years. Mr. Poole had been a locksmith for Revel Co. and formerly worked in maintenance for Atkinson and Co.

He served in the Army for 27 years, retiring in 1978 as a master sergeant serving at Fort Benjamin Harrison. He was a criminal investigator during World War II and served in China, Burma India. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary and at 10 a.m. Monday in Christ the King Catholic Church, of which he was a member.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Mary Poole; a daughter, Elizabeth "Kay" Stevens; and a son, Patrick Poole. Memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer may.

Society. Roy E. Stivers Roy E. Stivers, 55, Indianapolis, died Saturday in his home. A lifelong Indianapolis resident, he had been a self employed tuck pointer 25 years.

Born in Cadiz, and city resident for 61 years, he was a retired chauffeur. A member of Second Baptist Church, he belonged to its Baptist Training Union, Brotherhood and Mr. and Mrs. Club, and was a former president of the usher board. Survivors include his wife, Lucille B.

Elliott. John B. Elliott Ernest M. Haas Services for Ernest M. Haas, 65, Indianapolis, will be held at 11 a.m.

Tuesday in Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary, where friends may call from 4 p.m. 1 to 9 p.m. Monday. An Ohio native who had lived here most of his life, he died Saturday in a local nursing home. Mr.

Haas had worked 23 years for Esterline Angus Instrument 1 most recently as gas analyzer and chief engineer of direct writing. He was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church, Society of American Value Engineers, North Park Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Riviera Club. Survivors include his wife, Virginia E. Haas, and a son, Karl P. Haas.

Monday. He died Thursday in Wishard Memorial Hospital. Born in Nashville, he lived in Indianapolis 40 He had been a machinist for Linder Machinery for 18 years, retiring last year. He was a member of True Tried Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Emily P.

Harris. John Ella Hill Services for John Ella Hill, 73, Indianapolis, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Lewisburg, Tenn. Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Monday in Mayberry and Son Funeral Home, Lewisburg. She died Thursday in a local nursing home. Born in McKenzie, she lived in Indianapolis for 14 years. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Hardiman and Elizabeth Merrill; and a son, James Lee Hill. Lloyd A.

Mr. Jackson was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and its men's prayer breakfast group. He was also a member of the RCA Pin Club, Broad Ripple Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine. Survivors include his wife, Helen Jackson; and three daughters, Shirley Reiss Moore, Judy Strassenberg and Jane Secoy. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jessie Kellams Edinburgh, Ind. Jessie Leeper Kellams, 68, Edinburgh, died Saturday in Johnson County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, and had lived in Edinburgh most of her life. Mrs. Kellams was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church here; Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority; American Legion Auxiliary; and Women's Republican Club.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Eskew Funeral Home here, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 today. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Kellams; and two sons, Steven and Terry W. Kellams.

Agnes Koehne Services for Agnes Koehne, 88, Indianapolis, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John Catholic Church in Enochsburg. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today in Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville.

She died Friday in St. Hospital Center. Born in Enochsburg, she lived here most of her life. She had been a housekeeper and was a member of Society of Third Order of St. Francis and Ladies Solidity of the church.

Survivors include three sisters, Rose Koehne, Mary Ziegler and Margaret Kinker; and a brother, Joseph Koehne. Harold C. Montgomery Harold C. Montgomery, 62, Indianapolis, died Saturday in Methodist Hospital. Born in West Exeter, N.Y., he lived in Indianapolis 30 years.

He had been a truck driver for Holland Motor Freight for nine years, retiring in 1982. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion and Teamsters Local 135. Survivors include his wife Betty J. Montgomery; a daughter, Sharon Rose Nash; and a son, Rick Montgomery. Services for Rev.

Edwin Spalding. 76, Indianapolis, a retired Roman Catholic priest, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Augustine Home for the Aged, where friends may call from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Monday. Arrangements are being handled by Usher Funeral Home. Father Spalding, who was born in Loogootee in Martin County, died in St. Augustine home Friday. He had lived there since January.

He was ordained a priest in 1933, and served in parishes in Vincennes, Brazil, Washington, Celestine. Cannelburg and Shoals. He received his education at St. Meinrad Seminary and had been assigned to Via Coeli in Jemez Springs, N.M., for 23 years. Father Spalding retired in January from Holy Spirit Parish in Canton, Ohio.

Survivors include his brother, James Spalding; and two sisters, Marguerite Lundergan and Sister Rose Angele Spalding. Chester R. Taylor Noblesville, Ind. Chester Ray Taylor, 70, Noblesville, died Saturday in Roudebush West 10th Street Veterans Administration Hospital. Born in Martin County, he lived in Noblesville since 1946.

He had been employed at Fishers Lumber retiring in 1975. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Noblesville Veterans of Foreign Wars. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Randall and Roberts Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Monday. Survivors include his wife, Anna Castetter Taylor. Gilberta Williams Gilberta Wray Williams, 87, Indianapolis, widow of Marshall Williams, died Saturday in a local nursing home. Born in New Jersey and an Indianapolis resident most of her life, she had taught school in Marion during the 1920s. A member of Delta Zeta sorority, she attended Taylor University and was a graduate of Indiana University.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Crown Hil Cemetery. Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary is assisting with arrangements. Survivors include a son, Marshall E. Williams.

Helen M. Wilson Services for Helen M. Rowley Wilson, 83, Indianapolis, widow of George K. Wilson, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, in Usher Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 p.m.

to 9. p.m. today. She died Friday in Methodist Hospital. She was a retired bookkeeper in the insurance and purchasing department at Central State Hospital.

Born in New York City, she had lived here since 1919 and was a member of Corinthian Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and Speedway Post Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Survivors include a daughter, Florence McFall; and two sons, William and Robert D. Wilson. Sarah A. Winfrey Services for Sarah Ann McCombs Winfrey, 80, Indianapolis, will be held at 1 p.m.

Tuesday at Crown Hill Cemetery. She died Thursday in a local nursing home. A native of Kentucky, she lived in Indianapolis for 75 years and was the widow of William T. Winfrey. She had worked at the Indiana State Board of Health several years and was a member of Light of the World Christian Church.

Santa Monica, Calif, (AP) "Music Man" Meredith Willson, who created the award-winning hit musical about a huckster who hoodwinks River City, Iowa, with visions of "76 trombones" and then repents for love, has died at the age of 82. Willson died of heart failure Friday at St. John's Hospital, where he had been admitted a week earlier for an intestinal obstruction. "I WAS with him, and I must say he went peacefully," Willson's wife, Rosemary, said Saturday. "It was very unexpected, really, but he did go peacefully.

He just went to sleep. "We thought he'd be home in a few days, because they were clearing it she said of the intestinal problem. "But last night when he took a turn for the worse. His heart just gave way on him." She said he had been involved recently with a new musical being produced by Robert Jani called That Music Man's Music, due to open Oct. 23 in Los Angeles.

Jani previously was affiliated with Radio City Music Hall in New York and Disneyland in Anaheim. "I THINK THAT really took his whole attention this year," she said, adding that Willson had hoped to attend the opening. "He may not be there in body, but he'll be there in soul." Robert Preston, who starred as Professor Harold Hill in the stage and screen versions of The Music Man, said Willson will live on through his work. "For me he's never going to be Bill Libby dies; wrote of athletes Westminster, Calif. (AP) Bill Libby, who authored 65 books on sports figures and helped Nancy Reagan write a biography, died early Saturday of an apparent heart attack at 56, his family said.

Libby, a graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, collaborated on books with such sports figures as Reggie Jackson, Jerry West, Parnelli Jones and Richard Petty. He also contributed to several sports publications. Libby's wife, Sharon, said her husband had a history of heart problems. He was declared dead at his home in this community located 30 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles, Orange County Deputy Coroner Barbara Mitchell said. Outside sports, he helped Mrs.

Reagan with her book, Nancy. Libby also worked with Franklin D. Roosevelt's son, James, on My Parents: a Differing View and with swing era singer Helen Forrest on I Had the Craziest Dream. Libby attended Indiana University before serving in the Navy. Murle G.

Born in Bloomington, he lived in Indianapolis most of his life and had been a salesman for Kirk Furniture, retiring in 1974. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Speedway Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Unsinkable Molly Brown, about a plucky Westerner who vives the sinking of the ocean liner Titanic, was made into an MGM film and nominated for a musicaldirection Oscar.
