Rahal also received a gold card emblematic of his honorary USAC life membership plus Mar-ieanne Kenyon's traditional Indianapolis 500 winner's portrait, while Home was the recipient of the Ideal Corporation's National Championship Crew Chief Award. The year-end prize total included $27,400 from Canon Camera, USA, associate sponsor of all USAC racing series, plus $16,000 from STP Corporation and $8,000 from Champion Spark Plug Company. Jim Gllmore Enterprises presented Dusty Brandel, President of the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association, with their Diane Fell Gil-more "Woman Behind the Scenes Award" for her work and first-year chief mechanic Tracy Potter of Indianapolis received the Gilmore "Rookie Chief Mechanic Award" for his work on Pancho Carter's car during 1986. Ted Hallbrand of Torrance. and Les Kimbrell of Lafayette, longtime USAC officials, were presented distinguished service awards, with Kimbrell receiving the "Jim Blunk Memorial Award" for his contributions to the sport of USAC midget racing and Halibrand the USAC Winners Circle's "Ross Hadley Memorial Award" for many years of service to the club. Ted Hollingsworth of Indiana-polls was named USAC "Race Organizer of the year." Westfield's Warren Mockler was the most Improved driver In the dirt division. Congratulations BIF WARD $12,000,000 in residential sales thru December 1986.

His chief mechanic and car owner Bob Hampshire also carted off the Indiana State Fairgrounds' Mechanical Achievement Award in addition to his car owner championship awards. Kokomo's Steve Butler accepted his awards as Crestllner Vans sprint champ, while his car owner and chief mechanic, Phil Poor of Anderson, earned the James McElreath Memorial Award for mechanical excellence from the Gohr Distributing Company.

Billy Moyer of Batesville, USAC's 1986 Late Model Series Champion, was also the surprise recipient of Valvoline's "Jimmy Caruthers Memorial Award" In recognition of his spirit and determination. Ken Hamilton of Boise, Idaho, was honored as Skoal Long Cut Supermodtfield king, while Indy's Rich Vogler. Mack McClel-lan of Vandalla, and Robby Flock of City of Industry, were lauded, respectively, as Jolly Rancher Candies national, regional and western states midget champs. Leo Mehl. director of racing worldwide for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, received USAC's Individual Recognition Award, while Canon Camera, USA, the official camera of the United States Auto Club, received the Corporate Recognition Award for their extensive involvement In USAC activities.
