The error was not discovered in time for the May primary, said election board officials. Graham could have resigned from the race until Aug. 22 but did not. Should Graham win the election, officials said, it would be up to members of the House to decide if he could take office.

Indiana State Election Board and Manon County Election Board officials explained that when Graham registered as a candidate with the Indiana Secretary of State Feb. 5, his residence was in district 48. But changes in the boundaries of the district, passed by the Indiana General Assembly, went into law Feb. 15. BIS1 7 Murder-suicide believed by police Outdoor Cover IfcK' 34 Police theorize that an 81 year-old Marion County man shot his wife to death before committing suicide Thursday because he was despondent and suffered from cancer. The man. Walter F. Waltman. killed his wife because she has been emotionally and physically dependent on him and he was concerned about her remaining years, police believe.

Robert S. Waltman, 56, son of the elderly couple, had received a telephone call from his father at about 6 45 a.m. Police said Walter Waltman simply asked his son to visit before going to work. When the younger Waltman arrived at his father's Acton home at about 7:30 a.m., he found his father dead from a wound inflicted by a 12-gauge shotgun blast to the chest. Wraltman, 82. She had been shot in the head. Marion County Sheriff's Lt. Robert L. Olson theorized that Waltman shot his wife in the head while she lay asleep, then reloaded the gun in the den and shot himself.
