Stout, in five ball games, has ye to taste victory.

Artie Richter, Sheboygan's court gift to La Crosse, proved to be the biggest thorn in the side of the Blue Devils, the 5-10 jump-shot artist meshing 20 points. He swished 7 field goals' and put in a perfect night at the free throw line, meshing 6 for 6. Eleven of Richter's came in the first quarter RICHTER of play, enabling the visiting Indians to grab a 19-12 lead. Wings Cop, Sixth Shutout For Sawchuk DETROIT (IP) Terry Sawchuk, the National Hockey League's leading goalie, registered his sixth shutout of the season as his Detroit Red Wings easily beat the last-place Chicago Black Hawks, 3 to 0. before 10,062 fans Saturday night WRESTLING 8:30 p.m. Vern who has been seen as a potential threat to the world's heavyweight championship, will meet Stu Hart in the headline attraction of the card. The opening bout will be a team battle pitting Bearcat Wright Jr. and Jack Pesek against Johnny Moochy and Hans Schmidt The referee for the matches has not been named yet, but the fans did not like the job which Bill Kus- sisto did in his last appearance here, so it is doubtful whether the former grappler will be the third mfin in the ring this time.

Gagne is well known in the Midwest. A product of Minneapolis, he first came into sports prominence as a football star and wrestler at the University of Minnesota. Following his college career, he Alleman Tips Knifes, 60-50 PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. His opponent is a Canadian contender from Edmonton who weighs in at 226, Stu Hart.

Hart has spent considerable time in American rings. He was also a football star during his college days, playing at the University of Alberta. During his long amateur wrestling career, he was undefeated. Johnny Moochy and Hans Schmidt, paired in the team-tag match against Wright and Pesek, will present one of the most villainous combinations to appear in the La Crosse ring in some time. Schmidt showed his wares here recently when he was half of the team which took a very unpopular victory over Pat O'Connor and Dick Trout Wright was on the last local boxing program and since that time has learned wrestling.

The huge Negro will be combined with his teacher. Jack Pesek, against Moo- chy and Schmidt. Tickets for the wrestling show are on sale at the S. and the Doghouse and Elmer's Uptown. Richter in the La Crosse point column with 15 points, quickly boosted the Indians back into the lead, 24-23.

Van Galder's charges never took the back seat thereafter. Peth, besides coming through with valuable offensive play, excelled with dominating action around the boards. Many of the Tomah lad's markers came on tip- ins but when he couldn't bat the sphere through the hoop he was snaring rebounds with his 6 feet 3 frame. Troubled with difficulty hi finding the basket during the first half. La Crosse blazed away with methodical second half drive to pull away from the hosts.

Balanced scoring coming from the Entire squad and a defense which grew tougher as the tussle progressed, were factors permitting the defending conference champs to build up a handsome, 61-41 advantage with 4:40 playing time left, the widest margin enjoyed by the victors. Score at the half showed La Crosse barely in front, 30-27. Third period tabulating had La Crosse ahead, 50-37. Van Galder emptied his playing bench of 15 men as the outcome of the game became known. Starting for the Indians were Richter and Joe Brittelli at the forwards.

Faced by the brilliant efforts of Bob Lagerman, team Gordy Rojahn, a La Crosse lad, and Bill Callahan, the class squad outpointed the None, 1,513 to 1,233. Ray Ping, Dick Koeppe, Ken Wittenberg and Dave Osborne, four men from the City of La Crosse, in the college's class division, finished among the first five top scorers as State edged Luther's class team, 1,884 to 1,834.

Ping, especially, showed exceptional progress in Saturday's meet. Despite losing, Luther's apparatus and tumbling men indicated great promise and should provide La Crosse with keen competition when the two meet at Decorah in January. Millard Murphy, Hans Reutcr and Walter J. Wittich, all of the La Crosse faculty, were judges for Saturday's competition. Henry Duer was announcer and Audrey Lagerman, head clerk.
