Shawnee Choral Society will sing at the evening session. Double Funeral Rites For Husband and Wife Mr. and Mrs. Chester Lenczewski, who died three days apart, were buried yesterday morning from the home, 261 Dana Street, city. The double funeral services were attended by many friends.

Brief services at the home were followed by a solemn high mass of requiem in St. Mary's Polish Church, Park Avenue, city. Officiating were Monsignor J. J. Kowalewski, celebrant; Rev.

Roman Gizara, deacon, and Rev. Edward Sokoloski, subdeacon. The Altar and Rosary Society attended in a body. Casket bearers for Mr. Lenczewwere Frank Medon, Stanley Schmidt, Frank Zajkowski, Albin Sidor, Anthony Skibicki and Andrew Sitnik.

Casket bearers for Mrs. Lenczewski were Barney Koscierz, Frank Czulwik, Peter Sobieski, Zigmund Okrasinski, John Gorajek and Anthony Murawski. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wyoming, benediction by Rev. Father Gizara.

Murray, Scranton, Dies Pittston Native Worked 40 Years for Comerford Amusement Company John J. Murray, a Pittston native and for 40 years a manager and executive of the Comerford Amusement Company, last night in the State Hospital at Scranton. He was the son of the late and Mrs. Michael Murray of Pittston, but spent the greater part of his life in Lackawanna County. He was manager of many of the Comerford theaters.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Henry, F. Gibbons of North Franklin Street, and Ernst Hahn of New York City. The funeral will be held on Saturday morning funeral home on Market Street, Providence Section of Scranton. Mrs.

Emma Coleman, USO Worker, Dies Mrs. Emma Coleman, 71, of 37 West Market Street, died of complications yesterday afternoon about 3 in General Hospital following a two months illness. Born in Lewisburg October 28, 1874, she had resided in this city about 50 years and was the widow of Patrick J. Coleman. She was active in USO work in this city and was a familiar figure around the local USO room at North Main and Public Square.

She had taken a deep interest in servicemen and prior to being stricken with illness had corresponded with more than 100 soldiers and sailors from this section. She also was in affairs of the Salvation is active. survived Mishe Edward Weidow by a of daughter, Turtle Creek, and a brother, Hutchinson of Bloomsburg. 'Three grandchildren and a great grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the Homer E.

Graham Funeral Home, 324 South Franklin Street, city, with Adjutant W. A. Bamford of the Salvation Army in charge of services. Interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park. Friends may view the body at the Graham Funeral Home on Saturday and Sunday evening.

OBITUARY (More Deaths and Funerals on Page 16) WILSON U. DOWNING Wilson U. Downing, died at Lakeland, Florida, Monday March 5, of complications. Interment was at Lakeland. Mr.

Downing, a carpenter by trade, formerly lived at Lehman, later for many years was a resident of Wilkes-Barre and St. Louis, Mo. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Virgil Pickering, Rummerfield; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary Downing, Wilkes-Barre and Mrs.

H. C. Downing, Binghamton; brotherin-law, G. P. Rice, Wilkes-Barre and several nieces and nephews.

MRS. ANNA BARTNICK Death of Mrs. Anna Bartnick occurred early this morning at her home, 336 Center Street, Georgetown after an illness of one week. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Park Avenue, city.

Surviving are her husband, Peter, two sons, Carl, at home, and Bernard Hudson and a sister, Mrs. Mary Kolessar, Philadelphia; brother Bernard. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 from the funeral home, 21 North Meade Street, city, with a requiem mass St. Mary's Church, Park Avenue. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Wyoming.

MRS. RUBY J. ROTH Mrs. Ruby J. Roth, a lifelong resident of the city, died early yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs.

Edward H. Hahn, 34 Hutson Street, city, after a lingering illness of general debility. Mrs. Roth, until two months ago a resident of 59 Hanover Street, a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Chapter 90, Order of Eastern Star, and the White Shrine.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hahn and Mrs. Harold Ross, both of Wilkes two grandsons, Bruce M. Ross, gunner's mate U. S.

Navy, and Sgt. Robert Roth, Army Air Forces, listed as missing in action in the European area. brother, Benjamin Denemore, Wilkes Barre, also survives. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 from the Luther M. Kniffen Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, with Rev.

Harold Deisher officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. AUGUST WERKSTES August Werkstes, 72, a resident of 187 Lincoln Street, city, died at 8:30 yesterday morning in WilkesBarre General Hospital where he was admitted on Saturday for medical treatment. GINLEY Michael L. Ginley, 72, who retired in 1942 as a conductor after 54 years' service with the Lackawanna Railroad, died Wednesday night at' his home, 111 Dudley Street, Dunmore. Mr. Ginley is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Hopkins of North Scranton, and two daughters, Mary at home, and Mrs. John Larney of Dunmore.

Catherine Evans, 72, wife of John Evans, died at 5 yesterday afternoon at her home, Hill Street, Nanticoke, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Evans was born in Wales and had been a resident of the Nanticoke section since coming to this country 20 years ago. She a member of the Nebo Baptist Church of Nanticoke. Besides her husband she is survived by a son, Henry, at home; three' daughters, Mrs.

Margaret Williams and Mrs. Mary Ball, both of Nanticoke, and Mrs. Catherine Reese, at home; three grandchildren, and three brothers, Daniel, William and Walter, in Wales. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 from home with Rev. David J.

JOHN SLUSARCZYK John Slusarczyk, 35, rear 407 Packer Street, West Avoca, died Wednesday in Pittston Hospital of injuries received in a mine accident at No. 9 Colliery, Pagnotti Coal Company. Surviving are his widow, the former Stella Bialasz of Dupont, and two children, John and Lorraine, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Slusarczyk; brothers, Joseph and Edward, Avoca; Walter in U.

J. SYLVESTER STONIK Sylvester (Sobeck) Stonik died yesterday morning at the home of Mrs. Anna Makos, 92 Coal Street, Plymouth, where he resided for several years. A brother, Joseph Stonik, East Main Street, Plymouth, survives. The body was removed to the funeral home, 70 East Main Street, Plymouth, from where the funeral will be held at a time to be announced today.

Shafer Home From Aleutians Capt. Charles B. Chafer, son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles L.

Shafer, 219 North Sprague Avenue, Kingston, arrived home last night after spending 20 months in the Aleutians. He will be at home for 30 days. Capt. Shafer entered the service on January 8, 1942 and was sent to Fort Eustis. He entered OCS at Camp Davis, S.

in April, 1942 commissioned a second lieutenant in July of that year. He was assigned to a coast artillery regiment on the West Coast and was promoted to first lieutenant on November 17, 1942. He was raised to captain while serving in the Aleutians. He is a graduate of Wyoming Seminary and Syracuse University and, before entering the service, was employed by Bartels Brewery.
