BASKETBALL JUDGE UPHOLDS IHSAA DECISION A Floyd Circuit Court judge upheld on Monday a ruling by the Indiana High School Athletic Association barring a transfer student from playing basketball at his new school. Judge Henry Leist ruled that Erick Jordan Is ineligible to play basketball at Jeffersonville High School during the current school year. Jordan transferred to Jeffersonville this year from Providence High School, although neither he nor his family changed residences. JORDAN NAMED PLAYER OF WEEK Michael Jordan, whose 39.6-point average helped the Chicago Bulls win two of their three games, has been named NBA Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, the league said. NETS CARROLL OUT TWO MORE WEEKS The Nets, hit with a rash of injuries recently, learned Monday that center Joe Barry Carroll will be out at least two more weeks after he was re-examined in New York.

Carroll tore ligaments in his left wrist after falling last Tuesday in Charlotte. FOOTBALL FOSTER NAMED PURDUE MVP Senior safety Marc Foster was named Purdue's Most Valuable Player during the team's annual awards banquet Monday. Foster led the 4-7 Boilermakers with six interceptions and was second on the team in tackles with 107.
