Tyson was seeking a preliminary injunction in New York State Supreme Court against Cayton but the hearing never really began. Lawyers for Tyson and Cayton spent 90 minutes in conference with Justice David H. Edwards Jr. and another 90 minutes meeting without the judge and separately. SPINKS HEARING OCT. 3 A judge on Tuesday postponed until Oct. 3 a hearing on a civil suit brought against former heavyweight champion Michael Spinks and his manager, Butch Lewis, for pulling out of a heavyweight unification series at the Las Vegas Hilton. District Judge Michael Wendell vacated the scheduled July 25 trial date after lawyers for Spinks and Lewis asked for more time to prepare their defense. Hilton Hotels Corp.

sued Spinks and Lewis after Lewis withdrew his fighter from a heavyweight unification series after only one fight. BASKETBALL GLOVER MAY LOSE ELIGIBILITY Buster Glover, who spent two weeks in Louisville with his half-brother while authorities in four states searched for him, may lose his eligibility to play basketball for Kansas State because he missed summer school. Glover had been reported missing by his parents when he failed to arrive in Manhattan for summer school after leaving his home in Gary, Ind. on July 4. He was found Monday playing in a pickup game at the University of Louisville.

A reporter for The Louisville Courier-Journal asked Glover's half-brother, former Indiana All-Star Jerome Harmon, if he knew where Glover was. "Yeah, he's right here," Harmon said. Glover told the Gary Post-Tribune that he had gone to Louisville to work out differences with Harmon, who wants to play on the Louisville basketball team. PACERS CUT FIVE PLAYERS Five players, including three from Indiana colleges, were released Tuesday as the Indiana Pacers began paring the roster at their rookie-free agent summer camp.
