True Confessions and True Story. A graduate of Butler University. Mrs. Winders taught literature and was a publicity writer for the Eliza A. Blaker Teachers College of Indianapolis, now Butler University College of Education.

She also was a creative writing teacher at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, where she was a consultant to the annual summer writers' workshop from 1961 to 1971. Mrs. Winders, who lived in Indianapolis 83 years before moving to Elkhart In 1980, was a member of Irvlngton Historical Society, Sto-ry-a-Month Club and the Daughters of 1812. She also was a patron of the Hoosler Arts Salon. She was the widow of Charles Garrison Winders.
