ALF will be on hiatus, and whether it will come back next season remains in question. Two of the other new series were on CBS Sydney in 59th place and Normal Life tying for 67th, which does not sound as if CBS has solved its young comedy problems. The fourth newcomer was The Outsiders on Fox. which came in tied for 62nd with the highest rating ever for a Fox dramatic series. The NBC win on Saturday night, in which it beat the combined ratings of ABC and CBS by 17 percent, suggests that there aren't enough viewers on that night to support the combined network. Fox and independent station programming. Compare Saturday night, the least watched night of the week, with Sunday, which has the largest audience. On Saturday, the total television audience was 43.931.700 households, of which the three-network audience measured 27,353.700. according to the Nielsen numbers.

On Sunday, the total audience measured 59,496,600 households, with the networks attracting 35.919,000 of them. NBC won the ratings race for the 23rd consecutive week, and 91st out of the last 92 weeks. The network took the week ending March 25 with a 14.2 rating, 24 share, according to the A.C. Nielsen Co.
