"It always has been the association president and his wife who have traveled. I just remembered I'll have no one to lay out my clothes or do my laundry!" she says.

Regarding the duties of her anticipated job, Mrs. Kivett says having a woman as president will "be different and it'll be new. I'll have to prove myself. Maybe I'm not as up on sports as I should be, but perhaps alumni can give hearings in other areas, such as cuitural, where the university has worked hard. "I am going to have to be more knowledgeable on sports, though, because the talk always turns to that.

"I feel my new responsibilities will be both fun and a challenge but I feel confident.

I want to do the job properly for ALL women. It's not that I represent ALL women, but I think any woman in the limelight has a double responsibility to do her job and reflect the right kind of credit on the female sex," she emphasizes. "I'll just have to be myself," is her description of how to carry out this goal. In addition to undergraduate degrees from I.U., Mrs. Kivett received a master's degree in 1 education from Columbia University.
