HILARIOUS 3-ACT COMEDY Seminary Gets Grant From Lilly People who travel from Brazil to west-central Africa sometimes make a stop on Ascension Island. This place is within range of the island of St.

Helena. If you had visited Ascension Island 200 years ago, you would have failed to find any settlers. On the other hand you would have found several types of wildlife. At the time Napoleon was taken to St. Helena as a prisoner, the British decided to send soldiers to Ascension Island.

It was thought this would help guard against any effort of the French leader to escape. A $300,000 grant from Lilly Endowment to Christian Theological Seminary, 1000 "The Owl The Pussycat" of Green Mountain, which Is a bit more than half a mile high. Springs on the slopes of Green Mountain supply drinking water for the people on the island today. In the past 100 years, several valleys have been planted with grass, Cattle and sheep graze on pasture lands which have been obtained in this way. RABBITS and goats have been brought to the island.

Some of these escaped, and now there are wild goats and rabbits, but turtles and birds still make up most of the wildlife. Thousands of sea turtles swim to the shore, and climb up the banks to lay their eggs. The "wideawake birds" also lay eggs on Ascension Island.
