Tulane also scored on a 35- yard field goal by Lee Gibson and a 57-yard punt return by defensive left halfback George Ewing. Georgia's two touchdowns came on runs of 7 and 1 yards by tailback Jimmy Pou-los. A two-point conversion at- set up when Don Golden punt ed to the Tulane 25, and the ball touched Tulane's David Lee.

With 7:35 left in the first quarter, Poulos took a pitch-" out and swept left 7 yards for Aivesome Sooners Rip Past Oregon, 68-3 MUNCIE NORTH'S 16-0 loss to Fort Wayne Northrop only goes to prove that Coach Terry Hitchcock hasn't pulled off the impossible in just the second year of varsity football for the Delaware County school. North mowed down big brothers Muncie Central (20-6) and Muncie South (54-12) in a sweep of its first three outings this year, so it would be a fair observation to say that the Titans still are way ahead of the prescribed timetable for most two-year-old football schools. Hitchcock, Muncie South assistant for eight years, who once had a hand in Richmond's 36-game winning streak under Bill Elias and Hub Etchison (1953-55), tackled the North job a year ago seven days before the Titans played their first varsity game. North's progress following its 3-7 rookie year has been excellent, although Coach Hitchcock knows that the roughest part of his schedule is coming up.

This week it'll be North's Titans against the Indianapolis Titans from Tech. Fort Wayne Dwenger will be another formidable opponent Oct. 14, and Dwenger will be followed by the two biggest Olympic Conference stumbling blocks Anderson Madison Heights (Oct. 20) and Kokomo Haworth (Nov. 3).

All four wound up in the North loss column last year. Setting North apart from other good ground teams is a super running back, Luther Bradley, 6-4 and 195-pound son of the assistant principal at Central High. Bradley scored five times in the 41-6 first half against South, and had 204 yards the first three times he ran the ball. Luther scored 96 points with 732 yards rushing his junior year, including another 5-TD game against Winchester. Brad- Norman, Okla.

The I CUm. H. Hlock Co. Romanian Sels Discus Record Bucharest (AP) Romania's Argentina Menis yesterday set a women's world discus record with a throw of 220 feet, im inches during a track meet among Finland, Sweden and Romania at Con-stanta, the news agency, Agerpres, reported. Miss Menis achieved the record throw in her thrid attempt.

The previous world record 2190 was held by Faina Melnik of the Soviet Union. Miss Melnik won the gold medal at the Munich Olympic Games with 218-7. Miss Menis was second at 213-5. ley is a 49.8 quarter-miler and he combines with 6-7 Kirk Mc-Shurley to give the basketball team a strong 1-2 inside threat. Hitchcock dresses 26 seniors, one of North's strengths, because they've been together for three years.

Bradley, who scored 60 points in North's first three games with a 14.8 rushing average isn't the only standout. Tackles Marc Kilgore and Bud 'Palmer reached the state wrestling finals along with End Tommy Smith. Ends Wes Lyon and Jimmy Harris are two more basketball players. Harris qualified for the state hurdles. Hitchcock platoons two sets of backs with Bradley's exception.

Steve Hill who had 97 yards in the Central contest alternates at the other halfback spot with Jessie Peques. Ends Joe Chapman and Lyon usually go both ways, "until we're out of trouble," the North coach says. Center Ramon Avila is Hitchcock's team leader. Marc Groves the No. 1 tackier and Bobby Johnson developed over the summer into a fine PAT kicker.

With a superior running back like Bradley, Coach Hitchcock admits "We like to run the ball before we throw, but we do have three TD passes, and we can throw when we have to." Hitchcock's triple option was good for almost 500 yards in the first half against Southside. Northrop applied the stopper by holding Bradley for short yardage and clicking on two TD tosses. UNBEATEN DAVE RAMEY and the rest of the Brebeuf tennis team have a pretty grim idea how U.S. sprinters Eddie Hart and Ray Robinson felt when they were disqualified in the Olympics for missing a quarter-final deadline. Brebeuf failed to return its entry form to the Indiana High School Athletic Association before last Monday's 4 p.m.

deadline and now the tennis team must suffer for the mistake. "We're just sick about it but it's not the IHSAA's fault," Athletic Director Jim MacGregor told Shootin' the Stars. "We received the form in plenty of time and the coach just got mixed up on the date." MacGregor explained that the IHSAA deadline for all sports was moved up this year from Wednesday to Monday, but the new dates were announced in a number of directives. All IHSAA entry forms go to the principal and must be returned bearing his signature. He usually hands It down to the athletic director and then it goes to the head coach.

Obviously, nobody feels worse about the slip than Ralph Tramontini, in his third year as tennis coach, unless maybe it's the kids. Principal Karl Hertz coached Brebeuf tennis at one time so he also has a personal interest in the sport. "It wouldn't be so bad," MacGregor concedes, "if Ramey wasn't one of the top players in the entire state. He has a national ranking in his classification and our team probably would have been favored in the Ben Davis Sectional." ONE OF THE LATE L.V. Phillips' favorite stories he was Commissioner of the IHSAA told 8bout the principal who forgot to enter his high school in the basketball tourney a cardinal sin in the Hoosier state.

"I'm not going to say he lost his job over it, but he did change schools the next year," Phillips said. Now, for the most tragic thought.
