TUSTIN NEWS THURSDAY. 5 DOWN MEMORY LANE From The Files Of The Tustin News THIRTY TWO YEARS AGO July 13, 1923 This issue was primarily dedicated to the Tustin Elementary School, showing pictures of the new Grammar school which was well under construction, with completion hoped for by the opening of the fall term. Mr. Walter Perozzi of Prospect Avenue and Miss Gladys Jessup of Garden Grove left Tustin last Saturday to be married. It was generally understood that the ceremony would take place in Pasadena.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Crawford have moved to their beautiful new home on their twenty acre walnut ranch which is located on McFadden Street. Kern Thomas, a member of the Tustin Boy Scout Troop, broke his arm early in the week. The New York Store in Santa Ana advertised 66 80 Woolnap Blankets as a weekend special at $3.19.

Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Pollard are the happy parents of a baby boy who arrived, Sunday at St Joseph's hospital, Orange.

FIFTEEN YEARS AGO July 12, 1940 Tustin Sea Scouts lead the entire county by winning the right to fly the Regional flag for the year 1940. Francis Holford was elected this week to serve the local American Legion as its commander for the coming year. Elected to serve with him were: 0. T. Ware, first vice commander; John Jacobs, second vice commander; P.

C. Brooks, sargeant-at-arms; Byron Quivey, chaplain; C. O. White historian; Wm. Leinberger, finance officer; John Cleary, adjutant.

Francis Holford and John Cleary delegates to the state convention. Frances Logan was elected to head the Tustin Auxiliary. Other officers elected were Dollie Hoiford, first vice; Florence Prunty, second vice; Pauline Cleary, sargeant-at-arms; Hilda Riehl, marshall; Myrtle Horton, chaplain; Laura Marks, musician and Gertrude Cleary historian. Delegates to the State convention are Frances Logan, Bertha Eaton and Laura Marks. In compliment to Mrs.

Bill Bouchard, who before her marriage June 15 was Miss Irene Schooley was given a lovely miscellaneous shower by her sister, Mrs. Walter Mueller and Mr. Bouchards sister, Mrs. Lecil Boosey of Irvine in the Mueller home at Villa Park. and Mrs. Urban Buchheim were hosts at dinner Sunday in honor of their son Kenneth who has just returned from service in the South Pacific. Lecil Boosey surprised his family when he arrived Saturday from the South Pacific area. The Tiller Lodge reopened for the youth of the community Saturday with a party at 8:30. John Jacobs was named as commander of the American Legion Post, serving with him were Art Park, first vice commander; C.

To honor the 80th birthday of Mrs. Wilson's mother, Mrs. Sara Hutchins of Orange, Mr. and Mrs. L.

Weed, assistant minister of the First Presbyterian Church in Tustin, announced this week that Janice Focht, Karen Snow, and Lee Johnson have been commissioned by the to the Senior High Presbyterian Commissions Conference to be held September 5 thru the 11th, at Big Bear Lake. The Commissions conference is similar to Leadership Training school. Registration is still open for the Presbyterian "Niner" Camp to be held August 22-29.

Students attending the conference must have completed the eighth or ninth grade. The total amount of camp registration is due in the office one week prior to the opening of camp. The program of the camp will consist of Worship, Bible study, play, interest groups, hobbies, sharing responsibilities in addition to the vespers, camp fire programs, assemblies, and other inclusive group activities. The theme of the "Niner' camps this year is "Christ the Way." Presbyterian Junior High CampS to be held at Pacific Palisades still have openings in their group No. 3-July 31 to August group 4-August 7 to 14; group 5-Aug.

A St. TUSTIN Riverside County Fair At Hemet August 17-21 Fresh trout will be on menu for a lot of visitors to the Farmers Fair of Riverside County of Hemet, Aug. 17 through 21. The 20 20 foot pool in the sports area will be stocked with hundreds of the finny beauties and improvements made to the pool will make catching them easy and lots of fun. Pool patrons may fish as long as they like, it is explained by Duke Crosiar of Hemet who will manage the pool, with a nominal charge made for all fish caught.

In addition, the fish will be cleaned at no extra charge and held in a freezer until the fishermen leaves the fairground. Poles and bait are furnished, and the pool will be open during regular fair hours. 'Catch 'em now and put 'em in your Crosiar, This is just one of many attractions offered in the sports area and around the grounds of the Farmers Sports area demonstrations will include casting, golf, archery, horseshoes, target shooting and many others. The Model Show tent is also located in the area. and Mrs.
