PASTOR FOR 16 YEARS. Rev. Dr. Blayney Celebrated Anniversary of Ministry. Sunday was the 16th anniversary of the pastorate of Rev.

Dr. Blayney of the First Presbyterian church and the service was in harmony with that occasion. Dr. Blayney has won the hearts of all and has made for himself a place in Abilene's religious and social life that comes only from unusual ability and earnest, faithful service. Not only the Presbyterian church but the whole city honors him.

REV. F. S. BLAYNEY, PH. D.

Under his pastorate he has not only seen the church membership increase but he has infused it with greater zeal. The report for the past quarter alone made Sunday shows a gain of 50 in membership. The church building has been enlarged to correspond with the growing organization. The amount spent on it in improvements in the past year exceeded $4,000. Under such devoted leadership and with such favorable conditions the Presbyterian church of Abilene should with coming years grow in influence and strength.

Benefit to Grain Crops by Recent Snow Will Offset Financial Loss of Early Varieties. Omaha, April a result of the unprecedented weather which prevailed during the greater part of the month of March and the freezing weather and heavy snowfall of the last few days, early fruits, such as peaches, plums, apricots, cherries and blackberries in this section have been Injured but the general opinion among those who have the best means of informing themselves is that the damage is not as great As has been reported.

Indeed, many in some instances completely killed and possibly some of the later varieties have been hurt, the benefits resulting to the grain crops from the snow storm more than offsets the damage. "Our reports from points along the lines of our road are not unfavorable" said G. W. Loomis, assistant general manager of the Burlington, Sunday. "'The fruit in the southern part of Nebraska which the unusual warm weather in March had brought to an advanced state of development is re ported to have been pretty badly damaged but little or no damage is reported from points north.

The snow, however, did a vast amount of good to winter wheat and has put the ground in a fine condition for other farm crops." County Commissioner Solomon, one of the leading orchardists of this section, said: "I estimate that the hard freeze of last Thursday, killed about one-third of the eArly fruit. Up to that time I am confident the fruit was not hurt at all. It is, however, too early to say positively what the effect of the cold weather has been." Austrian Singers Coming.
