Thank you for choosing the Visalia Times-Delta and Tulare Advance-Register Our dear husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Dewey R. Utsler passed away on May 14, 2015. Dewey was born March 25, 1936 in Exeter, California to his parents Dewey M. and Annie Mae Utsler.

Dewey grew up on the shores of the Rogue River in Oregon and after his death, his mother moved he and his sister Loda back to Exeter, California. Dewey graduated from Exeter High School in 1955. Shortly thereafter he married Sally Kimbell. They settled in Exeter and began their family. Dewey was a successful commercial and residential painting contractor for over 50 years specializing in the application of industrial and commercial grade coatings.

Dewey was President and CEO of Utsler Enterprises, Inc. until his retirement in 2012. Dewey is survived by his wife Leslie Lowery-Utsler and children Larry Utsler and wife Janelle, Alan Utsler, Elizabeth Utsler, and Mike Utsler and wife Merritt. Also, siblings Loda Gann and husband Denzel, Stephen Coale, Doris Weaver and husband Glen, Mary Dillon and husband Jim and Kay Gates and husband Ron. Dewey is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and son Mark Utsler. Please join us for visitation at Evans Miller Guinn Chapel in Exeter on Wednesday evening, May 20, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in honor. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015, 1:00 pm at the Visalia Cemetery. Dewey R. Utsler March 25, 1936 May 14, 2015 VISALIA, CA Lois Sheesley, loving sister, aunt, and friend to many, and an educator to countless students died at the end of a long productive life on May 5th, 2015. She was born Lois Esther Sheesley to Clayton arid Mary Sheesley on March 9th, 1931 in Tulare, California and died at the age of 84. She grew up in Visalia and graduated from Visalia Union High School in 1949, where she was a very active in student activities and leadership. She remained close friends with many of her High School classmates who were known as the 49ers.

Lois graduated from the College of the Sequoias in 1951 where she excelled in many art classes. After C.O.S. graduation, she trans- fered to California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She worked in the Bay Area for a few years prior to starting teaching Art and Crafts at Mt. Whitney High School in 1959.

After three years at Mt. Whitney she taught for 27 years at Lindsay High where she taught classes in the Art Department as well as being Lindsay High Yearbook Advisor. While teaching at Lindsay, Lois met Carol Jones who moved in with her. She and Carol also a Lindsay High teacher, became such great friends that they remained housemates until death. Carol blended in so well with the Sheesley clan that everyone considers her part of the family.

Lois retired from teaching at Lindsay High School in 1989 and Carol retired in 2004. Lois is survived by her brother Gene (Anna) of Visalia and Bob (Vicky) of Fresno and Sequim, Washington, cousins Frank Selover (Bonnie) of Lindsay, Marv Waterman of Six niece and nephews Steven, Scott (Lianna). Brian (Joni), David, Dana Rethwisch (Michael), Donald (Diane). Thirty two nieces and nephews from Jones extended family also affectionally referred to her as their aunt. A Celebration of Life Service honoring life will be held at Salser Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 East Caldwell at 1:00 p.m.

A memorial tribute may be offered by logging onto www. salseranddillard.com Lois Sheesley March 9, 1931 May 5, 2015 LINDSAY, CA Mervin Carey Schmidt was born February 16, 1935 in Southern, CA to Nellie and Irvin Schmidt. He attended Van Nuys High School and one semester of Jr.

College before serving in the Air National Guard. He worked as a cable technician and repair person for in Southern California as well as in Oregon. He enjoyed camping, hiking, gardening, and doing many jigsaw puzzles. He also enjoyed traveling in his 5th Wheel RV, and was a big Dodger Fan. He often helped out at Grace Lutheran Church as well as helping his neighbors.

He truly was one of the good guys having lived an incredible life. He is survived by his wife LaVerne Ann Schmidt of 60 years. Sons John Schmidt of Acton, CA and Robert Schmidt of Lafayette, TN. Daughter Linda (Schmidt) Perkins of Sacramento, CA. He was a triplet to his brother Gene Schmidt of Granada Hills, CA and sister Carol (Schmidt) Brown of Glendora, CA.

He has 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Irvin H. Schmidt and mother Nellie (Carey) Schmidt. Leal passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and dear friends on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Iva was born in Tulare, California on August 10, 1923 on a small dairy that her father, Gabriel Azevedo owned. At the young age of 3 years old, her parents moved back to Sao Braz, Terceira where she resided until the age of 25 when she and her sister Mary Avila returned to the United States and lived with her brother Gabriel Azevedo in Traver, California. A few weeks later her future uncle went to go pick her up and she moved to Tipton, California on the ranch and dairy she resided on for 66 years.

On February 3, 1951 she married Armando B. Leal (deceased) at St. Catholic Church. They had three children and is survived by daughter Iva M. Sousa (husband Deoclesio), daughter Mary Jane Pharis (husband Mike) and son Armando B.

Leal (wife Jennifer). Nine Grandchildren that she absolutely adored, Cory, (wife Debbie) Dustin, Daniel, Derek, Allison, Bryson, Christopher, Sarah and Elizabeth, and two precious Great-Grandchildren Jax and Jace. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law Fatima Azevedo and Rosa Freitas, numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren and loving friends. Iva lived her life with great faith serving Jesus Christ throughout her life. Her example of compassion, understanding, forgiveness, giving and loving is a true testament to the woman that everyone loved and will miss terribly.

She was known to make the best sweet bread, delicious pancakes, sweetest ice tea and gifted so many with her handful of quarters. The family would like to thank the following that showed so much love to their mother during these past few years they are: Odette Martinho, Laura Santos, Connie Garcia, Bernie Mederos, Zita Pacheco. The family at Gentiva especially Irene, Pat (Nurse), Jack, Kathy and Monica you will always remain in our hearts and circle of family. The many many family and friends that visited with her in the last week. The following services will be held to celebrate her life at St.
