Rrvrf Walrtn Opening on broadway three years after its completion, the play won many By BOB1JEAN CESNIK Southport Reporter The senior class at South- port High School has selected "The Miracle Worker" as its annual class play. It will be presented at the Perry East Junior High School auditorium on Nov. 11 and 12 at 8 p.m.

Directing the play is Miss Beth Weisheit, instructor of dramatics. She will be assisted by Karen Cain, senior. "The Miracle Worker," a three-act play written by William Gibson in 1956, cen ters around Helen Keller's childhood in Tuscumbia, Ala. It dramatizes the arrival of Miss Annie Sullivan who was to become Helen's teacher, constant companion and per sonal friend. Vying for home coming king and queen at Tech are (front row, left to right) seniors Becky Hill, Anne Stewart and Chris Petree and juniors Neita The Wild West will live again on the stage of Decatur Central High School, next Friday and Saturday, as "Annie Get Your Gun" is presented in the school gym at 8 p.m. The lead roles of Annie Oakley and Frank Butler will be sung by Connie Reynolds and Dave Thomas. Protraying the hilarious antics of Chief Sitting Bull will be Keith Blevens. Other members of the cast from 8 to 1 1 p.m. in the Tech cafeteria.

Entertainment, as promised by co-chairmen Chris Petree and Iris Williams, will include a new group, the Melodaires, and solo selections by soprano Patti Michael. At intermission a king and queen will be crowned under the direction of co-chairmen Susie Harvey and Anita Beld-ing. Hoping for the title of Home-coming Dance Queen are Becky Hill, Chris Petree, Anne Stewart, Patty Taylor and Neita Waldo. Vying for By CHERYL HARDING Tech Correspondent Arsenal Technical High School's Home-coming weekend will be topped off tonight by tVle Foot Ball, the Student Affairs Organization-sponsored Home-coming Dance. The theme of a colorful autumn football season will be carried out in decorations and refreshments, according committee co-chairmen Linda Darland, Donna Blount and Debbi Barnes.

With music provided by the Excels, couples will dance as a doctor, Gary Hawk as Mr. Anagnes, and Candy Gibbs, Donna Smithy, Debe Mnim, wiary Ann masiaier and Chris Gaiser, acting in the role of blind girls. Supporting the cast are teams of 40 pupils who will be working behind the set. Assist-, ing in the costume department are Joy Alsop, Beverly Rotroff, 11 ft. 11 i DmimIh taroi roller, aim oevcuy Ressler.

Those on the publicity staff are Randy Heckman, Nancy Miller, Char-lene Cook and Nancy Coulter. Seniors working on the properties committee are Carol Thompson, Barbara Brown, Mary Jo Cox, Susie Naab, Kris Tilden, Diane Walker and Becky Ciolli. Helping with programs and tickets are Jim Cox, Bob Henley, Paula Dar-ringer, Debe Smith and Myra Brownsey. Boys working on the lights and sound include Bryce Walden, Carl King, and Ken Huff. This year's setting is being designed and built by Rodger Gale, chairman of the South-port art department.

From a group of 55 seniors who tried out for the parts early this fall, Susie Stumpf was selected for the lead part of Annie and Diane Dravis for the part of Helen. Mr. and Mrs, Keller will be played by Dave Dusthimer and Leslee Jordan.

Helen's brother, James, will be played by Jim McMillian. OTHERS PARTICIPATING in the play are seniors Nancy Duiser as Aunt Eva; Cheryl Decatur are George Strakis, Dave Rather, Kathy Auble, Judy McGrath, Bruce Fields and Pat Liphard. Completing the roster for the musical comedy are Daryl Campbell, Diana Heintzleman, Ray Shannon, Patsy Brammer, Vicki Skinner, Peggy Campbell and Larry Lingner, Sponsored by the school's music departments, the production is under the direction of Miss Sharon Fields, director of vocal music. Southport High School's an-nual-Tatl dance tonight, sponsored by the Girl's Athletic Association, and faculty sponsor, Miss Mary Walters, will be centered around a theme similar to that of Sadie Hawkins Day. On this occasion, it is customary for the girl to ask a boy to accompany her to the dance.
