D. II. Roberts has gone to Indianapolis. The universal verdict is that the Republican grows better every week. Mr.

and Mrs. Albert II askins, ofMongo, had a Chi istmas present. It was twins, bovs. Mr. Jay Covkendall, formerly of this place, now a resid ent of Rav, is isiting Orland friends.

Mrs. Benedict, who had the misfortune to break her leg a short time ago, is getting along finely. Married, Jan. 1, 1SS1, in Bronson, bv the Rev. Mr.

Bonnev, Mr. John Sloan and Mrs. Lundstrum, both of Orland. May they live long and be happv. The Orland people are never in generosity.

Last Saturday the Orland correspondent of the itt ic vx re ceived a targe plate of chicken, a bowl of ers and some nice fruit cake. The donor has thanks for tb.e same. Mr. Ora Kimball's Norman horse.Glenn Lion, has been very sick with hemorrhage of the bowels. Mr.

Kimball sent to Cold-water for Dr. Ives but he was unable to come. The horse is now better and will recover. There was a re-union of tb.e Sanborn family New Year's day at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

McCagg. There were present, Mr. and Mrs. Sanborn, Mrs. Sanborn's mother, together with the children and grand-children, numbering twenty-four persons.

It will be remembered that the hardware store of Taylor, Wilder Co. was broken open and robbed of money and goods to a considerable amount, some few weeks ago. They have been recently found in the possession of Oliver Stayner. The greatest sympathy is expressed for his afflicted parents. rt The year 1SS0 has finally bid us adieu.

But he had all the revenge he was capable of, before he took his final departure. Tuesday and Wednesday he employed Jack Frost to visit nearly all the cellars in Orland, turning the apples into billiard balls, the potatoes into and congealing the canned fruit until it could stand on the shelf without the support of the glass cans into which it had been placed. But the old year is gone, and gone un'tamented, and we welcome the smiling face of 1SS1 with jov. Two young men, who are too modest to have their names mentioned, thought thev would "try a trick," and see if they could dre.un who would be their future companions for life. Accordingly thev tied their toes together and went to sleep with a piece of wedding cake under their heads.

The one dreamed that he was married to a gorrilla and thev were obliged to live with their toes tied together during the remainder of their days. The other dreamed that he was doomed to single blessedness, and would be always obliged to get up in the morning and make his own fire. A Paris dispatch reports that a band of forgers of bonds and receivers of stolen bonds, have been arrested in Milan. They belong to an organization comprising Italians, Frenchmen, Englishmen, Poles and Americans, having brandies and agents in the chief cities of Europe, and were selling forged or stolen French bonds in Italy, Italian bonds in France, and soon. An tensive robbery in Turin a few weeks ago has been traced to them, and other famous robberies between Paris aixl London are also attributed to the same parlies.

The prisoners wVil be taken to Turin. ORLAND ADVERTISEMENTS. THOMSON THOMSON HOUSE. HOUSE. INDIANA ORLAND OilLAND INDIANA I.
