After an argument, the girl sets out for New York with $150 to prove to her father that she can live there for one month on that sum. In a modest apartment, she shares kitchen privileges with a young man who contributes much to "her education along economic lines and also along romantic lines. The situation becomes complicated as she runs low on funds, falls in love with the young man in New York, and then loses him when he finds out about her father's immense wealth. Jane Wyatt. who has the title role comes from the New York stage where she first gained attention by replacing Margaret Sullavan in "Dinner at Eight."
