Two persons were sent to the hospital, one a girl who suffered a lacerated hand when she climbed over a fence. Grand total of Beatle fans treated during the two shows was 35. The rundown on the cases included, in part: Nine emotional reactions, diagnosed as probably hysteria. One head injury inflicted by someone holding a soft drink bottle.

One asthmatic attack. One foreign body in eye: eyeglasses broken. Four headaches, probably from screaming or hearing screams. One lost boy, possibly lost by i Beatle-worshipping older brother. 7 f-v i N.

We went up. On the second floor we went quite unnoticed, even when 1 peaked around the corner and stubbed my toe on a serving tray which held napkins, a dish and glasses. We all had the same idea at the same time. F.gged on by my buddies. I balanced the tray on my hand and confidently accosted an English traveling companion of the famed visitors.

"Did they order something?" he inquired, puzzled. "Of course they did," I retorted. HE OPENED the door, oblivious to the vigorous yells of the motel manager from below: "Don't let him in, don't let him in!" The crowd, now watching from the parking lot, yelled encouragement. My friends shouted: "You did it, boy, you did it." My ego bolstered, I shuffled into the room and gazed around in triumph. Only the Beatles weren't there! It was the room of the singers' staff.

The Beatles were next door. Still pleased however, I popped from the room and waved at the crowd below. Not so pleased, I was promptly apprehended by the gendarmes. They let me go after a while. A good while.

Not being touched by Eeatiemania, our original mission was to observe the screaming horde and perhaps chuckle a little. BUT, DESPITE our aloofness, we found it difficult to sit in the relatively isolated (save for 26 police cars) parking lot at the motel at 1 a.m.

and be passive spectators at the biggest attraction ever. When the Beatles were whisked in by police and brought to a screaming halt before the motel, my buddies and I found ourselves jostling among the crowd with no less fervor than they. Along with 50 or 75 others, we got our first big treat, we walked with the Beatles into the motel. But you could only go so far. When the police stopped us at the bottom of the stairway, we either had to watch from afar or test the security.

Schncker 3844 North New Jersey Street, daughter-in-law of former Governor Henry F. Schrickcr. She was not injured. Her daughters and a niece from Plymouth were here to see the Beatles, who she said were "just wonderful." There were no real injuries. Half a dozen girls fainted during the two-hour show, but their ailment was more hysterical than medical.

Serious injuries were avoided when the crush to get in broke the glass on two of the doors at the main entrance. THE CROWD was remarkably well-behaved. A cordon of police surrounded the stage and they stood up nervously, reaay for a stampede, when the Beatles finally came to the stage. But the crowd only screamed. The screams were unceasing for the first five minutes.

And when the shrieks died, they rose again whenever one of the Beatles moved. It was impossible to tell whether the first sounds were grand opera or rock-'n'roll. The only sound that came through the steady, fantastic shriek was the beat of Ringo's drums. I CD yf You can save S2 on your purchase of Scotts quality grass seed when you try Turf Builder. THE SHRIEK sent one little boy, he looked like a 4-year-old, running in panic from the Coliseum, his mother right behind him. In the aisles around the arena, the adults who were in theoretical charge of it all held their hands to their ears. Here are some excerpts from the Beatles' press conference between shows: Q.

How do you stand on the draft? A. About 5 foot, 11 inches. Q. What would you do if the fans got past the police lines? A. Die laughing.

Q. Where did you think of the hairdos? A. We've told so many lies about it we've forgotten. Q. How was the crowd here? A.

A bit quieter than usual. The questions were fielded by various Beatles. (Our man couldn't tell them apart.) A souvenir seller, Abner Davis, said "I hate the Beatles" buttons were his best seller. "I sell a lot of them to teen-age boys," he said. "Me, I like the Beatles.

They're making me rich." THE BEATLES didn't do badly either. They were expecting to make an estimated $100,000 for their two appearances at the Indiana State Fair. They seemed to enjoy it. Wherever they looked during their first show, screams erupted. From time to time a flurry of jellybeans hit the stage, continuing a sort of Beatle tradition.

A few giris just sat and quietly wept. Some of the girls had the forlorn looks worn by victims of great unrequited love. Still others held signs, including one that read "Rmgo for President." AND WHEN the show was over, it was like someone turned a switch that shut, off the passions that for half an hour had kept 10,000 hearts aflutter. The last chords of the steel guitar faded and in an instant those 10,000 girls looked normal perspiring perhaps, but normal. Several rock-'n-roll acts were given the polite attention of the youngsters before the Beatles came on.
