8A WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13, 2013 NEWS THE ASHLAND CITY TIMES from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 9-11 a.m. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Boyd Funeral Home with burial following at Joelton Hills Memory Gardens. The family entrusted Boyd Funeral Home with the arrangements.

Billy W. Reeder Billy W. Reeder, 68, passed on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Nashville. He was preceded in death by his parents, William W. and Bobbie Perry OBITUARIES Curtis Randall Bennett Curtis Randall Bennett, 70, of Ashland City, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013, in Nashville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Harvey and Thel-ma Lee Cannon Bennett; son, Jerry Schreiner; stepfather, Herb Pardue; brother, James Lewis Bennett; and sister, Sandra Lee Nicholson. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Hearon Bennett; son, Troy (Jennifer) Holder; daughter, Cheryl Lee Bennett; brother, William She received her BA from David Lipscomb College, her MA from George Peabody College and her PhD in English from Vanderbilt University. Cynthia adored her grandchildren and enjoyed the great outdoors and nature. She held a special place in her heart for all her students over the years at David Lipscomb College and Mil-lersville State University in Pennsylvania, where she chaired the English Department and taught Shakespeare and literature. Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bruce Corlew; sister, Ardyce England; and daughter, Lynda Dilgard.

She is survived by her daughter, Leigh Ann (Joe) Fulford of Oak-wood; grandchildren, Virginia, Perry and Henry; brother, Jerry Corlew; sisters, Teresa Corlew and Perrilyn Riley; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Routsong Funeral Home in Kettering, Ohio. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Dr.

Arthur Bruce Gibbs Arthur Bruce Gibbs, 94, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Robert Douglas Bruce Robert Douglas "Bob" Bruce, 78, died suddenly on Monday, March 4, 2013, in Nashville at Centennial Medical Center. Bob was born on Oct. 6, 1934, in Nashville to Edgar and Francis (Rit-tenberry) Bruce.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary K. Bruce; daughters, Dana (David) Bailey and Tina Ostrom; grandchildren, Bryin Keith Hager (Chassady Woods) and Philip Ray Ashworth (Taylor Greer); greatgrandchild, Brooklyn LeeAnn Hager; and nephew, James Bruce Jr. (Betty Bruce). Bob served his country with pride and honor in the U.S. Navy and retired after 22 years of service.

Special thanks to Dr. Reggie Anderson and the staff of Centennial Medical Center. Visitation was held on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from p.m. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home.

Burial followed at Ever Rest of Cheatham in Pleasant View with military Honors. Friends and family served as pallbearers. The family entrusted Boyd Funeral Home with the arrangements. Cynthia Corlew Dilgard Cynthia Corlew Dilgard, 74, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her home in Oakwood, Ohio. She was born in White Bluff to the late Perry and Virginia (Osborne) Corlew.

(Stephanie) Bennett; sister, Karen (Jeff) Sullivan; Bennett Jeremiah Hyde, Aubry, Camden and Landon Holder, Caleb and Lacy Egli; and great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Curtis Hyde and Jaelynn Grace Hyde. Curtis was retired from the Air Force and a former chief of police for 22 years for Ashland City. Visitation was Friday, March 8, 2013, from 4-7 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 1-5 p.m. and Sunday, March 10, 2013, from noon to 2 p.m. Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 2 p.m.

at Cheatham County Funeral Home. Burial followed in Felts Cemetery in Ashland City. Serving as pallbearers were the Ashland City Police Department and grandsons, Aubry Holder and Jeremiah Hyde. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, TACP Leadership Endowment Fund or the Fraternal Order of Police for Cheatham County. Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of the Maddie, Chase and Will Gibbs and Kiah and Bryant Fisher; brother, William Hester (Elnor) Gibbs; and sisters, Edith Bliss and Elsa Lockert.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. and Friday, March 8, 2013, from 9-11 a.m. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Mike Fox officiating. Burial followed in Gibbs Cemetery in Ashland City.

Serving as pallbearers were Andrew Gibbs, Todd Pewitt, John Gibbs, Eric Lockert, James Lockert, Shawn Lockert and serving as junior pallbearers were Bryant Fisher and Chase Gibbs. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Blue, Don Beshears, Tommy Pardue and Mike Gibbs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ashland City Church of Christ. Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Houston Winf ield Hudgens Jr.

Houston Winfield Hudgens 42, died on Friday, March 1, 2013, at his home in Ashland City. Houston was preceded in death by his parents, Houston Winfield Hudgens Sr. and Shirlee Case Hudgens. Mr. Hudgens is survived by his sons, Houston W.

Hudgens III and Sebastian Hudgens, both of McMinnville; daughters, Christina Tyndall of Ashland City and Patience Hudgens of McMinnville; sister, Mi-chele (Jack) Hudgens-Allen; and one grandchild. Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at noon at Boyd Funeral Home.

The family entrusted Boyd Funeral Home with the arrangements. Bessie Lee Pardue Bessie Lee Pardue, 93, originally from Louise Creek in Montgomery County, died on March 2, 2013, in Tavares, Fla. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sallie (Simmons) Baggett; husband, James Herbert Perdue; five sisters; and five brothers. She is survived by sons, Ralph Dwight (Wil-metta) Pardue of Mur-freesboro and Randy Jerry (Pat) Pardue of Ocala, five grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Visitation was held on Friday, March 8, 2013, time with his granddaughters, grilling, gardening and working on his black Z71 pickup.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Russell Ruffin; and brother, Jimmy Reece. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pat Ruffin; son, Christopher (Jessica) Ruffin of Ashland City; daughter, Amanda Ruffin of Nashville; mother, Lola Mae Ruffin of Ashland City; brothers, Ricky (Reba) Ruffin of Ashland City, Travis (Gail) Ruffin of Ashland City, Johnny (Janice) Reece of Joel-ton, Jackie (Carolyn) Reece of Mt. Juliet, Jerry Reece of Joelton and Joe (Pam) Reece of Ashland City; sister, Jo Ann Mad-dox of Ashland City; sister-in-law, Gail Reece of Joelton; granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Christen Ruffin of Ashland City; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 2-8 p.m. and Sunday, March 10, 2013, from 1-3 p.m.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Austin Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Jason Bell and Bro. Gene Parton officiating. Burial followed in Ever Rest of Cheatham with friends and family serving as pallbearers.

Austin Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View was in charge of the arrangements. Melissa Sue Stewart Melissa Sue Stewart, 49, of Chapmansboro, died on March 3, 2013, at her home. She was born on March 9, 1965, in Davidson County to William Kelly and Kathleen (Moon) Stewart. Melissa was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Kenneth Wayne Newman. She is survived by sons, Kevin Ray, Billy Jack and Kenny Ray Newman, all of Chapmansboro; brothers, William Kelly Stewart of Alabama, Terry Wayne (Cindy) Stewart of Cheatham County and Jackie (Mary) Stewart of Robertson County; sister, Kathy Stewart of Westmorland; and two grandchildren, Kenny Ray Newman Jr.

and Aiden Wayne Newman. Visitation was held on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. and Friday, March 8, 2013, from 9-11 a.m. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Boyd Funeral Home.

Burial followed at Ever Rest of Cheatham in Pleasant View. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Boyd Funeral Home to go to the funeral expenses. Honorary pallbearers were Harris Allen, Gene Sanders, Jim Word, Joe Nicholson, J.R. Reeder, Billy Savage and the former Sycamore Seniors.

Terry Wayne Ruff in Terry Wayne Ruffin, 56, of Ashland City, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at TriStar Ashland City Medical Center. Terry was born on May 6, 1956, in Davidson County. He Ruffin worked at A.O.

Smith in Ashland City for over 30 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church.
