The Indianapolis area, Region 10, will enter nine participants in each division; Region 9, five participants; Region 11, three participants, and Region 12, eight participants. MRS. SEEK SCHOLARSHIPS 210 Pupils To Compete In Chemistry Exam Winners of the Indianapolis-Marion County sectionals of the Indiana High School Forensic Association's sectional meet two weeks ago at Arlington High will compete with pupils from 19 other Indiana high schools today in the semi-state round at George Washington High School. More than 220 teen-agers will pit the skills which won them sectional ribbons in hopes to go on to the state meet at North Central High School next month. They are competing in debate, in which they must tackle the nationally adopted topic, "Resolved: That the United States should adopt a policy of reciprocal free trade with non-Communist nations," and nine other areas.

THE OTHERS are dramatic interpretation, discussion, boys' extemporaneous speaking, i 1 s' extemporaneous speaking, humorous interpretation, poetry, radio, original oratory and oratorical declamation. Registration for the semi-state will be from 8 to 8:15 a.m., according to Mrs. Allie Dragoo, Washington, who is regional director. Dragoo said drawings for extemporan eous speaking will be at 8:15 a.m., with most events beginning about 8:30 a.m. and lasting until about 4 p.m. Warren Central High School garnered 33 points at Arlington to top the 14 Marion County high schools which participated March 15 and 16. Ranking behind Warren were Arsenal Technical High School, with 31 points, and North Central High School, with 30 points. THE WARREN, North Central and Washington teams ranked in that order in debate, with Roger Brackett and Bob Phillips of Warren taking honors as the winning team.

Achievement Tests Todav Pupils of Spanish, Latin, English and mathematics will meet today at Emmerich Manual Training High School to compete in the area regional of the Indiana High School Achievement Program, sponsored by Indiana University. Manual teacher Ben Parke, local regional chairman, said 575 pupils from 33 county junior high and high schools, as well as a few outside the county, will take the tests from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Each school must also send one teacher for each two pupils entered. They will grade the tests Saturday, except the English essays, and will send the essays and graded ests to the Bloomington campus for tabulation. I.U.

Oratorical declamation, Steve Capper, Warren Central; Pupils from 19 Marion County high schools will compete at 9:30 a.m. next Saturday in a scholarship examination in chemistry sponsored by the Indiana section of the American Chemical Society. The pupils will be among 210 from 55 central Indiana high schools vying for a $300, $200 and $100 scholarship grant toward college tuition and fees.

In addition, an award of $200 worth of laboratory equipment will go to the teacher whose pupils achieve the highest average on the test. The teacher must have at least two pupils taking the test and was allowed to nominate three. Maurice Clark, chairman-elect of the Indiana section of the ACS, said the fourth annual competition will be in Butler University's Jordan Hall. He said the three-fold purpose of the test was to encourage talented youth to enter science careers, to encourage high school teachers to improve science instruction, and to encourage teachers to inspire superior pupils to undertake careers in science. THE CONTEST is open to all public, private and parochial high schools in central Indiana.
