National Defense Conference To Open in Washington Jan. 29 Special to The Indianapolis Star. WASHINGTON, Jan. 17. The sixth annual meeting of the patriotic conference on national defense, composed of forty organizations of women, or about two millions throughout the country, will be held in Washington Jan.

Talks on measures of national de fense now before the Congress, of the needs of adequate appropriations for the military services, and of methods to' combat the active campaign now being carried on against military training in schools and colleges, will occupy the sessions. Resolutions will be adopted at the final meeting.

Mrs. William Sherman Walker, chairman of the national defense committee of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Is chairman of the resolutions committee. Among the distinguished women who will be present will be the forty-eight state regents of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the state department presidents and executive committeewomen of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the state presidents of the American War Mothers.
