I am working, and am very handy at almost anything. Three years ago a young man called and asked me for a date, and when I sought my sister's permission to go out with him she became very angry and said I wasn't to think of going with a boy until I was 28 or 30. I have refused all dates since, but now find myself very lonely.

All my girl friends have dates and all I do is sit home every night. Is my sister right? STELLA. ANSWER: Your sister probably feels a great sense of responsibility for you and is letting her solicitude get the better of good judgment. She may also have a selfish motive in keeping you at home nights for the help you can contribute with the children. Of course you do owe her some consideration on this point, since she has cared for you since childhood, but at 22 you should have the sense to select proper friends and go out two or three nights a week.

Try to make this clear to your sister; if she doesn't see your side of the problem, you are certainly, justified in taking the matter into your own hands and accepting dates. Bring your boy friends home, ask your sister's opinion of them; let her, know you're anxious for her approval. DEAR MISS DIX: Before, we were married my husband was in love with his cousin's wife. They now live directly across from us and my husband still seems admire her. She is 12 years older than my husband.

When she's in her yard, he sits and watches her by the hour. Otherwise, he's a good husband and provider. However, this problem has gotten so on my nerves that I am continually nagging. R.R. ANSWER: The best solution to the difficulty would be to move.

If that's impossible, stop the nagging and ignore the situation as much as possible. Your cousin-in-law is just a middleaged vamp having a good time charming a much younger man. If your husband has any sense at all he should see through her insipid attempts at flirtation. Dorothy Dix cannot reply per- Mother: "This is the third baseball mitt I've bought you this summer.
